It depends on the website. They must have the appropriate records set up in the dns (can't remember if they're A, PTR, or CNAME records).
Basically they set up a blank record that then points to their www record. So that typing in (blank.)domain.com will just forward to www.domain.com. It's most websites will do this because it's easier to say and otherwise not worry about the www. part.
If that empty record is not set up, though, the empty host won't technically exist. There may be some registrar's that will do this automatically for you, I'm not sure. It's been a while since I messed around with any dns records.
Miranda-IM has a plug in called Keyboard Flasher, which after you drill down to things allows you to set up your three keyboard leds to flash upon the receipt of a message. Been using it for a while, and I love it.

pretty sure that applications in windows use whatever the default layout is when it starts up. So you may need to shut down all firefox windows, and then reopen it now that you have the devorak layout set.
It seems ironic to me that people criticised nintendo for keepin the cartridge format for the N64, and blamed that for why the playstation became dominant, but it could be a factor in regaining nintendos dominance, as it would be much harder and NSF56K to allow gamers to download CD games, at 700mb (+with more disc!)
Actually mine has said the same thing, when I was explaining about E3. This was her response:

speaking from personal expierence here, the more intrusive search involves being wanded down in one of those painted boxes, no different than if you set off the metal detector. My wife had to undergo this on our honey moon when we were flying from dulles to Onterio CA. We had purchased the tickets in her married name only to realize that a day after we're married all of her id will be in her maiden name. The clerks at the ticket counter put on the tickets that she didn't have an id, so while she did have to undergo a seperate wanding, it was better than not being able to fly due to incorrect id.
Failing the wanding will of course require even further searches in the back room, as we found out on one of the trips.
Funny you mention that. I remember some of the other employees talking about a memo that was sent out detailing exactly what is acceptable in terms of morning greeting. I wasn't around when that went out, but I was able to dig this thing up:

I guess it all depends on what style of music you listen to. Used to be that I'd only listen to music while I was driving, so a lot of those songs made the transfer over into the game. They've got a lot of good tracks on the EA list, it's just that I prefer to drive to the likes of Chevelle, AFI, and Taking Back Sunday than what the default is.
Put an audio CD into your xbox, and go into the audio menu, copy all of the tracks to it's own album. It'll copy them over, rinse and repeat with as many cds as you want. Once you have all of your music on the xbox hard drive, you can create a new album, and copy over all of the appropriate driving songs into it. Label that album burnout3 or something appropriate.
Once in the game, go into your profile section, then to settings, there should be an option that says EA TRACKS. You can change the sound track of the game from the one that they give, to any of your albums, including your custom burnout3 one.
Actually I find that Burnout 3 helps me to drive a little safer. I can now get my driving-recklessly-while-listening-to-Chevelle-way -too-loud fix without endangering anyone's life. Custom soundtracks alone make this game worth it.
My father works for the House one some of the larger mainframes. I remember that he spent many weekends a probably a year to a year and a half in advance making sure that there was no problem when the clock changed over.
I on the other hand, at the time worked for a regional ISP donig technical support. I worked both that night and the next morning, and surprising (to me at the time, as I bought into much of the hype) it was very quiet. Erie almost. Even a distinct lack of "I need to know how to delete my history, for no paticular reason, but before my wife gets home, please?" calls.
Where I am, the CVS' here used to be Dart Drug. I'm located in the DC metro area, northern VA to be exact. At least, this is all subject to my faulty memory, so milage may vary.
Nit pick I know, but the SP is actually front lit. The DS is back lit. Really, to me they seem almost the same in terms of visibility. The SP just has a habbit of throwing light out the top part of the screen from the internal light.
Makes a good makeshift reading lamp if you've got nothing else:)
They loaded the HD with Emu's and Roms to my knowledge. I know someone who was going to go to the one in springfield to get his box modded, and he explained the process to me. The 500$ boxes, maybe they were putting full games on there on top of the roms. My buddy was just going to get the roms put on the new HD.
I did support for a then local ISP a few years back. When we were a small time operation it was pretty laid back, but being bought out by a regional telecom changed the mantra from "fix the problem" to "get them off the phone"
I was actually told by one of my superiors one time that if I hadn't fixed the problem in 20 minutes, it was better to get them off the phone, and either have them call back and get another tech or call someone else's support entirly rather than stay on the phone and fix the problem.
Of course having 45 minute wait times didn't help improve the customer's mood in those situations either.
Youch. I did techsup for a regional isp, got out in 2001. Spyware wasn't an issue in the time that I was doing the work. We had to worry about things like IE4 going sour during an install. Sometimes AOL would screw with the socks, but that was the worst of it.
Had that expierence just a few days ago. one of our 3 month old kittens was in our closet trying to claw at one of my wife's dresses. He saw me grab the watter bottle and stopped, as I walked up to him and he was just looking at me innocent as could be. I walked away, and looking of my shoulder as soon as I left the closet he started pawing at that dress.

That's true. My old liscence had a crack in it from top to bottom (held vertically) from the constant stress that was put on it (I don't know how), the only thing that was holding the two pieces together was the lamiantated screen on the top. It was fine as far as I was concerned, but certain places (and I'm assumed they were just following the rules), wouldn't take my ID, even though they could read everything on the card, and the crack didn't obscure any part of the information at all.
I wanted to get a drink, they wouldn't let me because of my id, I asked them what I should do and they tell me to go to the DMV and get a new license issued.
