    Does the term, "Benevolent Dictator for Life" ring a bell? Linus doesn't seem to have any problem maintaining the helm of the kernel. If Java becomes open source and forks (like it's not already available in various versions), there will always be those who want to use the "vanilla" version. Non-issue - move along.     Does Slack 8.1 count? I suppose it's about time to upgrade, huh? Seriously, I've been using Linux since around RH 6.1. I even have an old copy of Caldera 2.3 laying around here somewhere [ducks - dons asbestos suit]. But I never liked it! I swear!
