Certainly not: 'As I spoke to newbies, one Windows user who wanted to learn about Linux shared the encouraging and constructive note (not) he received from one of the project members. The responding note read: "Hi jackass, RTFM and stop wasting our time trying to help you children learn.""
"Don't drive there! The road ends on a cliff and we'll all fall off and die horribly!"
"But the GPS directions say to go that way!"
"Oh, in that case, no problem. "
I totally thought this story had to do with scientists dispatching pigeons to attack the severe problem of blog pollution.
I was looking forward to a lifetime of never reading another xanga crammed full of MySpace quizzes. DAMN YOU MISLEADING SYNTACTICAL NATURE OF ENGLISH! =(
I don't think it's a 48% difference here. I think such extreme differences can't be explained by an X or Y chromosome - it's symptomatic of an overall negative CS attitude towards women as a whole that needs to be fixed anyway. There's nothing fundamentally male about CS - it's just we discourage women from doing it, thereby robbing ourselves of potentially valuable talent.

It's sad that people like that exist in my CS department. We have people search on Facebook for female CS majors and then poke all of them in hopes of a relationship.
Rather than, actually, you know, talking to them in class.
Don't you think that suppression of such freedoms is making us the very state we're fighting in the War on Terror? The slope from monitoring to censoring is a slippery one.
This was one of the inital concerns with wireless, for crying out loud. THere's been reports of people leeching other's connections at airports, hotels, etc., so it's not surprising that this shold turn up.
People who haven't yet secured their wireless network are advised to do so. In particular, they should consider limiting the range of their wireless.
And since it was clearly meant to be a generic name for the book title, why are they demanding rights to the website? I mean, no one's going to go to "katie.com", they understand that it's simply a symbolic book title.
This is why cable has such a huge advantage over DSL: it can offer plans to combine it with cable tv, and cable companies usually have a monopoly. But DSL companies rarely do.
Hence, I see cable being a LOT more popular than DSL in the future.
On the French Open website, someone mis-did the serve speed statistics here
They gave the correct km/hr speed, but misconverted to mph. 1.6 Kilometer = 1 Mile. However, they accidentally did 1.6 miles = 1 Kilometer, and thus, Andy Roddick managed to hit several blazing 350 mph serves.
Why do I need Mozilla? Tabbed browsing? I think it's unnecessary. Pop-up-blocking? I have PopUpCop and the Google toolbar. I can think of few other reasons to justify my spending time to reinstall my browser.
People have cable TV. All Cablevision Corporation has to do is offer some special deal with cable TV and people leave DSL. DSL companies can't do that. They're crippled because DSL is a technology only applicable for internet access.

Just do what this guy does and you'll be fine.

Clearly we see now the motto is an OR statement not an AND statement.
51/420 undergrad female CS majors here. That's much better but still pathetic.

Or should I say WoW...*is shot*
So in that one day, selling 240,000 units at $50 each means making $12 million dollars in one day. Wow.

Shouldn't the link read "for 2004"?
Hmmm..interesting, it'd be more like gambling on someone playing blackjack then.
that these people are pretty much "gambling" on the stock market, something that is pretty much gambling in and of itself.
It's like gambling on someone else playing the slot machine. o.O O.o What's the point?
Is there a point where graphics cards get so advanced that humans can't even tell the difference anymore? Or is that virtual reality?
Why on earth didn't they look it up first?

I'm guessing the last thing you want to hear on a plane now is the pilot saying, "What do you mean, fatal exception error?"
>_ Why don't they swtich to Linux?

I was laughing all night.
However, they've changed it now.

I think it's fine for casual use. I see no reason to get Opera/Mozilla because of small tweaks. Besides, I'm used to it.
I meant faster as in for now.
Phone companies have to compete with each other. Cable companies rarely.

Yup, I'm a cable user. Love it. Still faster.
