    Yeah, the giving-small-plastic-pins to kids thing is disagreeable. But the actual medium(s) for this isn't necessarily all that important because the idea is potentially quite valuable. One thing that I thought of was toggling push-buttons (like old-skool Caps Lock keys? But smaller.) Meh.

    Every show I crew for, I bring my laptop and a WAP for the entire cast to use backstage. Amazingly, it's only caused one late entrance in months, and one with the incorrect costume. I'm actually working on interfacing it to the light board so that I can stage-manage from backstage when we're short on people in black clothes..

    Naw, I'm on the laptop that I gave my girlfriend, in her basement, posting via Lynx over telnet through a .. actually, TWO servers I have accounts on. It's not powerful enough to run a normal browser, and I've been too lazy to download Lynx for Win, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it quite this way.

    Oh yeah, and her house is on th^H^H a moon.. of Saturn. (Might as well make it worthwhile if noone's going to believe me.)

    What other sorts of inexpensive things could be added to our gear to make it more interesting?

    Linux, duh. You could use the beams to send binary-encoded data as standard input, and flash the LEDs, which I assume the gear already has, to signal output.

    Actual thought I just had: instead of emitting a fairly standard sound to signify a hit, acquire some digital recorders (talking picture frames and gift cards come to mind) and record stuff into them, then hack them to go off in place of the usual speaker. One could even have a bunch of them per suit, and have a [pseudo-]random circuit to trigger one of them each hit.

    Also, I think it would be fairly easy to add more sensors.. that would make it better, I think.

    My best guess is that they thought you were talking about a firewall/router. A one-port would actually have two jacks, one on the outside and one inside. Using a one- or two-port (and a large hub) is significantly cheaper for a bunch of computers than buying a 12-port router.

    I sorta figured it was a miniseries, but didn't remember it being broken up (by episode).
    Of course I know it's based on a book. I just have to finish the last book or two of the series.

    Can someone tell me what happens in the Flash thing? Something is seriously malfunctioning and it stops after hitting Big Red Button twice. It seems that Earth explodes, but I want to see it :-/

    I don't mean to pull a "Do this because I'm self-righteous and the way I do things should be the law", but I run a slew of XP Pro boxes and've never had anything but the best time with avoiding Uncle Mic. It's kinda curious, though - it seems to me that there's only one product key for it. I lost the key I had, then searched online and the only one I could find _anywhere_ was identical to mine.

    ..which provide entertainment. Bush mazes actually came to mind first (following really funky artcars, e.g., a VW Beetle painted like a ladybug - these are interactive with a drivers' license.)
    What about the windows on an entire side of a skyscraper used to play Tetris via your cell phone? I think that surely constitutes an artly piece.. it's certainly creative, and the point of it, by no means, is purely to entertain by gameplay; if it were noninteractive, if it was played by computer instead of a person, would it not be a work of art? What if one just *painted* a side of a building with a screenshot (whether real or not) of a game? Just because it's from a videogame means it can't possibly be art, right? If you think so, consider a painting of Monopoly or Candy Land

    I wonder how it's supposed to be "powered". Where's the plutonium receptacle? Actually, how was it powered in the second movie? I don't remember anything obvious.. it wasn't by any normal means, that's for certain. Dang, break isn't for another hour.. I can't wait that long to research this.

    Use 1.0 - the real-time simulating actually works. You also have a 'reset' feature. If you want to remove a single component, drag it to the right side of the space.

    negative reinforcement != punishment
    you get negative reinforcement when you take an aspirin - avoiding a bad thing (the headache)

    I mean, btw; not to be picky or anything, it just frustrates me how much I see this mistake (though IANApsychanything)
