whether liberal or not, as an econometrician I use data and statistics to support theories. correcting someone and pointing out facts does not make us whiners.
although I would classify "... bullshit makes me wanna puke sometimes." as whining.
Trickle down economics did not work during the Reagan era, and does not work now. Cutting the top tax rate does not lead to economic growth, income growth, wage growth... and sure as fuck doesn't create jobs. Data collected from the last 40 years refutes the idea that cutting the taxes of the richest americans will improve economic standing. It only helps the rich. The average american does not get more wealth. Compare the tax cuts with changes in unemployment, hourly wage growth, income growth, and the GDP growth rate. Can't refute those results.
Being a recent CS graduate from a large State university, and currently working in data entry I wish all of you better luck than I have had. The competition, at least here is insane. I had 18 interviews last year and was passed up on them all. Worked at an italian restaraunt for a few months, now am doing data entry for about half what I spent on my college tuition. Though, I have a few friends that have become very successful with their degrees. The key to their advancement, they all worked networking jobs throughout college, I didn't. Thus the experience is lacking on my resume. I wish all those seeking CS or engineering degrees the best of luck, and get as much experience as you can. For those that do find jobs are doing very well for themselves.
Building a HTPC only makes sense if it can do something better than any other commercially available solution...
It doesn't have to do something better... odds are you have misc parts lying around and could build one from those. As with mine, I spent $35 on parts... the rest I had already from old systems. It does everything I want it to, plus it is hundreds of dollars less than something commercially available. It's definitely not better, but far more practical than purchasing a commericial system.
Clearly some are... tobacco companies have clearly targeted children under the age of 18 for their products, thus contributing to an illegal activity. There are countless others... thus we need to look at each one in its own light.
Thank you for pointing out a MAJOR flaw in our legal system.
And I did lose part of my virginity. Then got rid of the rest of it when I figured out what I was doing.:)
I use an antenna on my tv, so I won't be too much help. But, comparing packages in my area (comcast vs. dish network vs. direcTv) dish network and directv are the best. Basically w/ 1 premium channel and w/ a comparable lineup the dish averages out to $15 - $20 cheaper a month, includes multiple rooms, and DVR. Cable doesn't require a contract though which is a huge plus. So basically if you get the dish and it sucks you are stuck with it for 12 months. Or you can use this new invention called an antenna and you can watch TV for free!
We must have some separation here. Crimes committed using automatic weapons differ greatly from pirated movies/music being transferred via P2P. Stop using that comparison. I understand the argument but the crimes produce MUCH different results thus should probably be treated a bit differently.
I lived in China for six months last year teaching English at a University. What I found particularly amazing, was that the culture has taught people not to question things.

I'm just expressing my opinion, nothing personal.
opinions are personal

Agreed... the cheapest rentals are $4 around my area. If you are getting $2 rentals then you are a lucky bastard.
