Lots of people go scout for killing. That scattergun of theirs is letal from close range and their speed makes them hard to hit by most players. For the "twitch" gamers that come from games like the Quake series, the scout ise one of the best classes to choose for killing people. Nothing ticks me off more when I'm playing soldier or demoman and I get killed in 1 or 2 hits from a scout. Ok, nothing except for getting backstabbed by a spy. Freaking invisible cowards.
Agreed. Deus Ex 2 was horrible. I couldn't get past the first half hour or so. I have a computer perfectly capable of running Half-Life 2 smoothly on high settings but somehow, Deus Ex 2 just barely chugs along on the lowest settings possible, complete with aiming lag. Not to mention the terrible menu interface made for console controllers instead of for PC gamers.
I'm glad they finally have an option for download! Because the online episode player on their site is horrible. It only has HD available which means you need a 2mbit connection to watch episodes without stuttering. I have 512k DSL and often watch episodes from the ABC and FOX websites with no problem, but watching anything from NBC was impossible. I saw episode 4 of Life on TV one night and decided I liked it enough to catch up on the first 3. Each 42 minute episode online took around an hour and a half, because of all the stops and starts. Uuugh.
You can contact support and they can take the unwanted version out of your account. They can also give you refunds if you bought a wrong version. The German version of TF2 is censored; the blood is removed and the gibs (chucks of body parts flying around when people get blown up) have been replaced with rubber ducks, unicycles, springs, gears, and hamburgers. People in Germany who imported the US version to try to play the uncensored version found that it wouldn't work. If they contacted support they got a refund and a reminder: "Please note in the future that Steam purchases, per the Steam Subscriber Agreement, are not refundable - this refund was issued as a one-time customer service gesture."
Jonathan Coulton's song is "Still Alive" and is played during the end credits of Portal.
Lyrics:
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here: huge success
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction
Aperture Science
We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us...
Except the ones who are dead
But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive
I'm not even angry
I'm being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart
And killed me
And tore me to pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you
Now these points of data
Make a beautiful line
And we're out of beta
We're releasing on time
So I'm GLaD I got burned
Think of all the things we learned
For the people who are still alive
Go ahead and leave me
I think I prefer to stay inside
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you
Maybe Black Mesa
That was a joke, ha ha, fat chance
Anyway this cake is great
It's so delicious and moist
Look at me still talking
When there's science to do
When I look out there
It makes me GLaD I'm not you
I've experiments to run
There is research to be done
On the people who are still alive
And believe me I am still alive
I'm doing science and I'm still alive
I feel fantastic and I'm still alive
While you're dying I'll be still alive
And when you're dead I will be still alive
Still alive
Still alive
Loading screen or not, it still had long wait periods where you would travel down a descending elevator or something. They just masked the load screens, didn't really remove them.
I never noticed this. With elevators the screen just faded to black, the elevator went up or down, then the new level faded in. It happened pretty quickly.
By eliminating loading screens we were able to keep people in the game, and much more immersed in this world.
Yeah, too bad the world was incredibly linear and with one narrow corridor you could follow through the whole game.
End task wouldn't work when I tried it. I could highlight the firefox task, I could click end task, but nothing ever happened. I could only get rid of the thing by closing firefox by clicking the X button. And I was only able to do that because the popup only covered up monitor 1, and I use firefox on monitor 2.
Even more evidence that the expansion is going to be Northrend: In one of the more recent patches, there was a folder (accessible via an MPQ viewer) called "Expansion02" and a subfolder called "HowlingFjord," which is a region of Northrend. The folder only contained some models of a few plants, but it's still interesting that they would leave it there for people to find.
You can still have a mod that saves the data local then it can be uploaded elsewhere. It's not live steaming but it's close. This is how all the WoW database sites work (allakhazam, thottbot, wowhead, etc)
I've just lost interest also. The description makes it sound almost exactly like an upgraded Diablo 2: solo and group PvE, multiplaye being basically the same as single player, random dungeons,
Except that Diablo 2 was free to play online after you bought the game.
In Civ 4 when you choose a difficulty, the game tells you when the AI starts cheating. I believe around the 4th difficulty level is the "fair game" where they get no bonuses over the player.

Opposed to just letting the game stagnate? Releasing new content keeps people playing the game longer than not releasing new content.

Too bad SC:Ghost was supposed to be for consoles only. I was really disappointed in Blizzard for that one.
In the screenshots there's still a population counter.
Close. It's actually Starkiller, a mod for C&C Generals.
Why is that?
moot Function: adjective 1 a : open to question : DEBATABLE b : subjected to discussion : DISPUTED

They never "implemented" live maintenance, they were just testing it. They could test it again next week for all anyone knows.
What does this word mean? I can't find it in any dictionary!
So does this mean only Gamestop will be getting new systems? It seems kind of obvious to me, "Wii and PS3 to ship more units"
Nintendo wins by more than a mile if you figure in Sony losing $300 on every console, and Nintendo actually profiting on each one.

What vulnerability would that be? The one that lets people control their characters with keyboard and mouse input?
