Yes I know it's not system specific. I don't know a gaming soul who's bought it for PC, I know they're out there but I doubt the numbers don't touch the Xbox version.
In regards to GTA, I know quite a few folks who nixed their PS2s once GTA (the only game that mattered to them on PS2) came out for Xbox. They're kicking themselves now (San Andreas) but are awaiting a cleaner looking, faster loading and smoother playing Xbox port.
# Xbox Live online gaming service has set a new standard for online gaming with more than 1.4 million members around the world, surpassing expectations and cementing its position as a leader in the digital entertainment landscape.
# Xbox was the only platform to see year-to-year growth during Q4 as well as the full calendar year 2004, while the overall market was down year-to-year, in Europe.
# Overall software sales for Xbox lead the way in 2004, growing units sales 44 percent during Q4 and 48 percent for the calendar year 2004.
# There are now more than 200 Xbox Live-enabled titles, making it the richest library of online console games available today.
# The overall Halo franchise, which includes predecessor "Halo: Combat Evolved" for the PC and Xbox, has sold a collective 12.8 million copies in just three years. Where can PS2 or GameCube boast a system only title selling like that?
xBoxes outselling PS2s xBox 2 outbefore PS3 iPod KILLING the Walkman PSP getting barely any positive press compared to excellent reviews of the Nintendo DS.
Vaios and their higher end audio are what's saving them.
but I can remember a great handheld coming out by a company called Sega that was everything the game-boy wasn't and I haven't seen a game-gear around since 96.
weird.
was the X-Wing and Tie Fighter series in the mid 90's. I'd love to see them revamped for newer machines or find a clone or something. Talk about hours of my life wasted.
I can name, in rhode island alone more place that will take computer stuff that have no educational connections. Crossroads Providence and Groundworks Providence are two big ones.
Non-Profits can use them and would be more than happy with a machine running ME so they can type up a weekly report.
Not only do I own an iPod, but REAL's products are quite possibly the worst I've used. In fact I haven't had REALPLayer on my machine for years. Horrible quality and resource eating.
What I find hilarious is on the site they set up for this stunt http://www.freedomofmusicchoice.org/ had a petition http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi? r4apple that was literally bombed by rabid apple/iPod fans. They took it down and now have the current petition link and it doesn't allow comments nor does it let you view the names which obviously disply that same messages as before just in one line.
I'm no Apple fanatic (WinXP junkie) but I love my iPod and I love this digital music fuster cluck that's been going on since it became the 'it' item.
Being in the music scene and recording often I know KORG makes a killer little product called the Pandoras Box. It goes for about 300 bucks and it tailored to recording music, it's a portable virtual 8 track studio. You can even record a few times and compare each track to see improvements.
Apple using their iPod popularity to move excitement to a handheld marketed to a younger generation.
I know it sounds confounded but think. They are blowing away the rest of the mp3 player competitors due to their marketing.
Now, I don't think Jobs would even consider something like that, actually he's laugh me out of whatever room I'm in if I mentioned it.
But if they can create such a buzz with the iPod couldn't they ride the buzz with a hip pocket organizer or even a program that syncs with the iPod combining all the third party news grab and weather grab apps into something that the iPod user could use to sync with other information.
Could they translate this underground buzz into something big? I think so.
let a 12 year old break it down.
That was a way of saying "proove it"

There is a little green man on my shoulder. He's there you just can't see him.
how much of that 12.8 million is PC only? All the FPS player I know scoff at anything that isn't CS, Quake, Doom or HL.

Apple, in just four years has made us look silly in an industry we've owned since the 80s. We need to get our shit together.

I'll get one and put it next to my Quaassar and General Electric walkmans.
of things that are certain to take all my time and spare money.
iPod was a write in on that particular ballot.
There are literally hundreds of places in the US looking for older computers and spare parts. They could easily donate to them and BAM...write-off.
it was first come, first serve, thanks for playing!
I'm using Gmail now.
*ducks for flying objects*
I can receive mp3s of local bands in my e-mail now...why not?
and the interface is 10x better than hotmails.
I've got a handful of invites if anyone is curious, email me. regalbegal@gmail.com

I'm pretty sure they're setting it to auto-play.

that's cool. So you own one?
oh you don't, ok cool.
I've heard posting as anonymous coward makes your genetalia unable to function.

isn't that the point? Uneducated putting a well known brand label on something?
