At first I thought the article title was referring to Levin, the founder of IRC network Freenode. He spams a lot too - he's constantly making wallop messages begging for cash to support the network because his lazy ass can't get a job.
...Ruby is slower than many comparable scripting languages like Python and Perl. Just because you don't like that fact doesn't make anyone who says it a "troll".
How well could it interface with existing satellites? It's all well and good having a cheap and convenient space cargo ship, but it's pointless if it only attaches properly to a particular proprietary type of craft.
...is this proposed UN working group for the Internet going to actually have any control over the Internet, or will they just be a figurehead? If they're going to actually do something, thank G-d - international cooperation will finally enable us to deal with problems like spam and malicious Eastern European hackers and virus authors. Unfortunately, I suspect that this is not going to be the case; it takes a lot of freedom and jurisdiction for an organisation to be able to extradite and punish Internet users from any country, and most politicians probably don't want to give that power to anyone.
When a no-name author releases a new story solely for the purpose of furthering their anti-copyright agenda, their writing usually suffers. Especially if you're Cory Doctorow, who spells "says" as "sez" for some reason. Seriously, what's up with that? Did he see Pynchon doing it in Gravity's Rainbow and think it was cool?
From the article: "There is the obvious issue that it is devaluing the perceived value of music. You are also leading the public to think that it is fine to download and own these files for nothing."
Gee, maybe I'm wrong, but aren't Beethoven's symphonies public domain? How dare the BBC introduce a great composer's copyright-free works to a larger audience! They're devaluing it! And by "devaluing the music", you mean "devaluing your stock value", right?

...I recommend moderating the parent comment up. The only way to deal with terrorist attacks is humour.
...but can it run Google Earth on OSX86 while coding AJAX using Ruby on Rails?
I wholeheartedly endorse increasing Slashdot's noise-to-signal ratio by posting random 4chan and Something Awful catchphrases.
...but can it run Google Maps on OSX86 ????!?!??!

It's all well and good if the kernel is open source, but an operating system is much more than a kernel.

"Anyone have a real-world example of Rails scaling to a large project and lots of traffic?"
No, because it can't be done. Ruby prioritises ease of initial setup over execution speed or a sturdy interface.
...caling people homophobes when they object to it.
Moron.

...as much as I'd love for SCO to get their arses handed to them, I wouldn't get excited until their suit is actually thrown out of court.

It doesn't matter whether or not what you're posting makes sense. Just so long as it bashes "EVIL EMPIRE MICRO$$$OFT", you'll get modded up!
...there aren't really any major game engine changes between GTA3, VC and SA. I think of them as 3, 3.1 and 3.2.
