My university supports only old versions of Mozilla on Windows and Mac and nothing on Unix or Linux. Kind of odd when everything in the CS department is Linux based and can't access the university webmail system. Maybe that's why the CS department has its own webmail system without the bullshit.
We tax tobacco products and people continue to use them. We crack down on drug addicts and they continue to steal and murder so they can get their fix. I can't wait for the day when obese people have to kill to get money for their twinkies.
Most fission reactors will not cause a disaster either. Two of the highest profile cases of meltdowns were the use of an unsuitable process for preventing meltdown (Chernobyl, reactor exploded[not a nuclear blast I might add...]) and human error inducing a meltdown (TMI, vented small amounts of radioactive dust, melted reactor [NO explosion]). I would almost bet that the same people who think that fission reactors blow up like fission bombs will think that fusion reactors blow up like thermonuclear bombs and stop the US from ever implementing fusion power in the country.

If you use the Sun source, you can't file a suit over a patent regarding something in the source AND continue using and distributing the source or binaries.
The WTO has already shown that it intends to insure the US cannot compete in trade or even decide whether imports coming in are legal. They don't care what our working standards are.
That is unrealistic. It's more likel they'll get a huge reduction in cost to produce and only cut the price by enough to undercut the competition that hasn't outsourced yet. The whole point of outsourcing is to better compete and get higher profits. Why would anyone dump all their profits by cutting the price anymore than necessary?

In my personal experience, installing updates to Windows 9x system (or even installing Win9x) was a hit or miss affair. One small problem with the system (school computers, OH GOD NO) + attempt at upgrading = hosed back in the 9x days:(
People who are unknowingly in possession of stolen goods are usually allowed to just turn it over. They can't demand payment for the goods because of the whole stolen goods thing. They can demand a refund from the original crook, however.
Pointless comparison since a pirated copy of Windows is not a physical object and therefore not stolen goods. It is copyright infringement, however. If they don't know, Microsoft really has no grounds (at least with a competent judge and jury) to sue them over it unless they refuse to stop using it after being informed. At that point it's knowingly infringing on Microsoft's copyright and they certainly can be sued for it.
