    The "if you've got nothing to hide..." argument is quite the slippery slope. It's a bit authoritarian to criminalize everything you don't personally do or agree with yourself, isn't it?

    So use a prepaid cell phone. The only thing the "abuser" will be able to get is a cell number, which can be turned off at will.

    We have a full-heigh (~2 meter tall) enclosure full of Fibre Channel and SATA disks for a network attached storage appliance. I've never seen us use more than 5Gb/s in network throughput total.

    That's largely the segment that these companies are marketing too....those and those just below them that 'wanna' be that wasteful.

    Fixed that for you. A better value is a better value, no matter what your level of disposable income. Just look at most self-made millionaires (there is an article somewhere on the Goog): they tend to drive their 10-year old midrange sedans into the ground because it makes more sense than spending 5-6 digits on "bling" every other year.

    That's enough to put a few red flags up the pole. An attorney in an investigating/prosecuting position telling people to not bother defending themselves? Color me shocked. Oh, he also threatens your family, friends, and livelihood if you resist any charges they decide to bring against you? Sounds like the DOJ Alberto Gonzalez knew and loved.

    Either way, the most of best LCD monitors have a 10ms or so input latency anyway. (Check the article).

    Most places don't have a problem with you using their display models. 30 minutes may be a bit extreme, but playing a demo from a laptop or flash drive shouldn't be an issue.

    Which sucks for people who have very little selection locally. Either buy online, and likely get screwed, or drive a significant distance.

    3rd option: rely on reviews from credible sources. The "credible" qualifier is harder to find these days, though.

    HHS administers many of the programs, however recently block grants have been provided to states for them to create and maintain their own programs. Look around for the ACF sub-department, and theTANF grants.

    That's not going to happen. Florida just got smacked down for selling its DMV database to companies for extra cash. Yeah, that includes full SSNs, identifying info, etc. If the insurance companies pay enough, they'll get everything they want.

    Microsoft? Yes.
    Ballmer? Probably.

    He's too much of an early geek icon to be hated like that. Ballmer, on the other hand, is more like the PHB everyone loves to hate.

    Agreed. Also, many government entities don't reside in the .gov tld anyway.

    www.ocpafl.org is a good example. That's not exactly an easy one to decipher unless you work with that office regularly.

    "Good ideas" like that are rarely if ever put into practice. If I were doing something like this, I'd just put the county clerk's phone number on there anyway. I'd put money down that ess than 5% of the recipients would actually call.

    Flash. Silverlight. Java. Adobe Reader. Windows Update controls.

    People are getting used to installing applications to interact with "trusted" parties.

    Get enough local IPs, and you could mount an extremely effective DDOS attack over underutilized peering lines between the local ISPs.
