    Everytime that Slashdot dupes a story and I load up the homepage, I get this weird feeling, much worse than deja vu :P Like I just got sucked back a few days.. or in this case, a few hours

    Is anybody else as sick of these "designers" as I am? Loius Vitton ( however you spell it ) just takes shit, and puts his initials on it, then sells it for $400 per purse. I should paste AK all over something and markup the price 500% too :P

    Well yeah, I never said that /.'s HTML was correct, but the bug itself is a condition in Firefox that involved table overflows and painting. Sometimes Gecko would try to render the table without receiving all the data ( slow connections mostly ) and it would cause the weird overflow problem.

    Personally, I've never seen it, but I'm on cable, so the whole page loads all at once.

    Every fucking Firefox article we have, someone starts bitching about how Slashdot doesn't render correctly in FF, and we have to endure 18 posts of "OMG THEY R STILL USING TABLES AND NOT CSS" and "It's a FF bug dumbass".

    THIS HAS BEEN FIXED, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT ALREADY

    Firefox 1.1 will have the fix in the trunk, they backed it out because it was breaking other sites, that's why it wasn't in FF1.0. It's a race condition, and it's been fixed, end of story.

    It would be nice to see them have to strip WMP and IE out of Windows, or at least preload Firefox and Opera on Windows along with IE. My friend just recently was ranting about "WHY in GODS NAME do I need to have Windows Media Player EMBEDDED into my server??"*

    *Disclaimer: I've never used any Windows based servers, and I haven't used Windows period since 1999, so I don't know if you can pull WMP out or anything.

  16. KDE on KDE 3.4 goes Beta · · Score: 4, Insightful

    Say what you want about KDE, but after playing with 3.3, I finally made the switch from GNOME to KDE. I especially like the level of integration in between apps, the transparency settings for menus and applications, and KDevelop. Gnome is awesome too, especially 2.8, but KDE just seems to have more polish to it.
