I've always looked for the perfect place to build an audio production studio. It would need to be stylish.. and well isolated.. I guess you could play with plutonium-powered speakers in this place, without getting complaints from your neighbours.
Lilypond is to Finale or Sibelius, as LaTex is to Microsoft Word. Do you also think LaTex lacks intuitivity, just because you can't easily change the typography?
The WHOLE point with Lilypond and LaTex is that there are some people out there who can just do much a better job on typography than YOU. And some of those people has put that knowledge and skill into a program.
If it wasn't for services like Soulseek and Suprnova I probably wouldn't know half of the good music I know now. My policy is to download the music, evaluate it, and buy it if it's something I want to keep. Since the music I listen to rarely get any air time on the radio, I don't have much choice.. short of blindly wasting money on random CD's. And no, I don't believe that 30 second 32kbps/22khz mp3 previews does music any justice.
So well, it sucks to break the law, but as long as you can avoid getting prosecuted I believe the moral question is up to yourself: "Is what I'm doing wrong?". I mean, in my case the record industry is actually getting more money from me because I've got access to fileshare networks.
Eventually, the record industry will have to move with the flow.. I believe we'll see many more "iTunes sites" in the future.
Could they be used for super kickboxing? Or live action platform gaming? (Jumping like Mario or running like Sonic) These pair of legs just might make reality less boring:)
Heh. But seriously, they have a lot in common - listen to these samples of background ambience to accompany the voice. Here's a bunch of nerds that actually understands how ambient sound can change the atmosphere completely.
For instance, in System Shock - the first time you hear SHODAN speak, she's just giving you a standard greeting ("Welcome back to Citadel Station.."). But all the time there's this evil drone in the background that starts low but keeps intensifying. SHODAN makes no threats, nor states anything evil - but that ambience, the drone, tells you that something's definitely wrong, and you should be very affraid:)
When that female voice started speaking in that flash thing I almost thought it would say, "Look at you Hacker... Pathetic creature of meat and bone.."
Seems like everything leaks these days? Even an open source game, work in progress, "leaked" recently - but I think they only used that term to be cool and trendy.
Too bad the leaks sometimes contain spoilers, though. Or as Triumph the Insult Dog puts it:
Triumph: Spoilers? I've got some spoilers for you! (StarWars nerds starts to look a little more curious and alert) Triumph: You will die ALONE!
...especially when it drives you to/. his site. You're like this 9 year old boy who would rather smash up your best friend's expensive toy, than live through another day knowing that he had something better than YOU! Go sit in the corner.
800 new viruses a month. Takes some manpower to create all the antidotes, and it's hardly likely to ever get that for free. Worms seems to be the real threat now, but it may be possible to create an "intelligent" firewall; e.g. some kind of bayesian filter that can mark network queries as good or bad.
"Unobtainium".. What about the ground the elevator stands on? There are reasons why bridges are built the way they are. I guess an elevator like this should be built with an optimal energy distribution, so that it dosn't tip over because of a stupid hurricane.
How many times in history has a meteor caused massive damage on earth? How many percent of the earth is covered by water? I would think peak oil poses a much larger threat.
Oh, and I've also always wanted to see a big ass meteor plunge violently through the atmosphere. Now they're ruining the fun.
no, it's not priceless. the price is 827

..women at the bar can really like you! If one of them is turned on by your presence it's not just that you've had too much to drink!

And, yes: there is a GUI front-end
I think I'd personally be more interested in a stylesheet that redirects IE browsers to www.mozilla.org/ :) Or even better: crashes them.

Well, everybody knows that BIOS stands for Built-In Operating System (bla bla, old Neal Stephenson joke)
I really think the pr0n industry should come up with a hand-powered video player.
Well, I for one, welcome our population regulating robotic overlords.
i heard they ported vi to emacs...

One thing's for sure -- if it DOES go supernova, your tin-foil hat wont save you.

Jack just slipped a stinker! Awful egg-ish odor! Requesting permission to abort mission!
and Barney from Seattle likes to smell your crotch and lick his balls.
...or someone will find out how to run linux on them and make a beowulf cluster.

Sorry. Mod me down. I read 40Mhz as 40Khz. Sound cards wont do any good here. I must be drunk or something:)
