    there was a site set up by somebody who regularly contributes to the kernel. he actively goes after companies that use linux in their software+changes and do not return those changes to the community.

    i would like to say he does so effectively and successfully. but for the life of me, i cant remember his name nor his site.

    google seems to be on a roll here: churning out products and features one after another. yesterday it was maps n local .co.uk.

    i dont know exactly how many prodcuts and features they now have but i know their next realise shoudl be a my.google.com where u can bookmark all the google products u like to use and it can give u a summary ala my.yahoo.com

    i just helped a friend out and this was the result:
    5 recycled compaq sff workstations without hard disks or cdroms and builtin pxe enabled nic.
    1 hyperthreaded 3.2gb with 2*80gb harddisk with 2 nics

    hardware costs
    workstations=5*350LE=1750LE
    server=3100LE

    monitors are out of the equation coz when he realised he was gonna save 15000LE+ on hardware alone he decided to get 5*2000LE LCD monitors.

    software = mandrake 10.1+ ltsp 4.1 = free

    ok i took a bit of cash for the setup but nowhere NEAR M$ prices!

    total cost of hardware without the monitors = 830USD (1usd-5.84LE)

    30usd for 1.5Mbps? hmm the current exchange rate sets 1usd=5.84LE thats about 175.2LE/month for 1.5mbps. and i m paying 150le/month for 256kbps in cairo,egypt.

    good question: while i was in saudi 3 or 4 years ago. i was in mecca and asked why the hour was for 20 riyals conversion rate is at oanda.com) i believe.
    i asked the cybercafe's administrator and he said that the price was high coz the nearest isp was in jeddah (i was in mecca about 25 km if i remember correctly) and they had to throw a line to the isp, which was also why the link was pretty slow.
    and yes my memory sucks from all the hours i have sat in front of a crt.

    i m egyptian not a saudi.
    i have used cyber cafes in saudi arabia.
    i kinda like not having ads, popups or otherwise, of "meet your mate" and "grow your dick" style on my browser. right now i use firefox with adblock for the same effect. but i got to do it manually, this is like automatic.
    the kids find it hard to browse porn sites: i like the (conservative) idea that kids get introduced to NORMAL sex thru their parents
    and the clincher: there is a site one can go to add a new porn site to the proxy ban list: the list is BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE and sorry i dont have the url any more.
    in conclusion sites like cnn is available and foxnews (unfortunately) too while victoria's secret isnt

    1. the muliple existences of several similar yet different looking henges (that carhenge.com is cool!)
    2. each henge while similar is different in construction material
    3. while religion may have played a part in their construction, astronomy was most likely the major reason for its construction
    4. only one of the henges are accurately aligned, the rest are ... puzzling!

    hey .. thats about as long as i have had my hotmail account.
    and i NEVER get spam from anybody except one spammer.
    my secret? i keep my hotmail account at 100% quota but this one spammer knows this bug in hotmail which allows administrators@msn and administrators@hotmail to send email to me. :(
    and no matter how many times i make a filter or i report it as spam it keeps on coming and coming and coming ..
