this link was a non-biased result on microsoft sucks.surprising but there u go.
on a saddier note, ever since i was $rbtl by the slashdot crowd, i dont have any mod points to point out that anyone that say wikipedia is unbiased is a troll. /me bows
Thank you ladies and gentlemen, i had enjoyed my positive karma
i just read the entire article (amazing!) and thought it was an eye-opener as to the issues
run oracle on suse/redhat
openldap/ssl via suse
ease of use desktops via mandrake
and so the conclusion was suse servers for authentication while productions servers were redhat and workstations were mandrake which makes it a heterogenous network. which also means the admin must know these 3 distros or get 3 admins, each knows one of the distros.
then we came to the consultants and ppl started talking about going to hp,debian or finding some guy who runs a linux consulting company.. but the problem with the 3 suggestions are:
a) hp doesnt seem to support linux outside the us
b) a guy who runs a linux consulting company might either die tomorrow or worse decide to emigrate to the US, get stopped at immigration, interviewed for 8 hours by 4 different security experts, then discover his home country no longer exists, and have his green card rejected.
err.. long story short, managers want a distro with support from a big internation company playing in the local arena. error 404

for 6usd a month one can find a reputable compnay to provide him wtih more than one mega of mail. thats like unlimited quota constrained by your wallet.
and to top it off, u get a bonus, space to put your own weblog too!
a lot of ppl (as previously mentioned on slashdot) are disgruntled with the wikipedia. i would go so far as to claim its useless. hell even one of the cofounders of the wikipedia doesnt like it any more.
i dont use it coz i know the facts there are either skewed or biased towards those who can win "revert wars".
its just a propaganda machine, not a fact machine ___ go ahead mod me a troll
256k dsl was set at 150LE or 12.5usd at the current black market rate of 6le/usd. this does not include the modem @ 430le (modem + 4 port switch + splitter) but it does include monthly adsl suscription cost to the telco
currently, the ministry of interior has a deal for its officers for 80le/month and the army has one too for 75le/month.
throwaway accounts for money?
why not use hotmail or yahoo if u want the quota.
hell i use http://www/dodgemail.com: no registration, automagically creates the user account and "unlimited" quota. some nice geek on slashdot pointed it out in his comment
ps. can u pay for my domain name as a christmas present?
pps. mod me a troll
interesting how nobody learns from history.
i remember (dont know the link.. not bothered to google for it) how a previous ceo of volkswagen said that all those accidents in vw automatics were from user errors (they hit the accelerator instead of the brakes) and not a defect in the car as all those users were saying.
the effect was that vw sales went down and that ceo lost his job.
while in the case of vw it was true, in the case of microsoft. try telling a customer who has a million trojans, virus, spyware, zombies, proxies, malware, etc. etc. etc. programs loaded on to his computer. "oh its your fault!"
----
user calls ms support: i got a virus
ms support: ITS YOUR FAULT !! ITS YOUR FAULT !! ITS YOUR FAULT !!

uh..
ibm has and will always be a hardware company that sells operating systems and s/w products that run on their hardware so that their customers can have software to use on that hardware.
go on.. mod me as troll.. i couldnt vote before the mod system came into effect. i cant vote now either
so? ibm also runs lotus domino server and lotus notes clients. note that lotus notes is only available on windows. which means that all workstations and laptops that need to use any function of domino other than mail requires windows to be installed.
thank you thank you thank you, you may now mod me as a troll
Wikipedia is a central respository of free knowledge today.
true but not always accurate or unbiased just check out the israeli propaganda or any massacre of palestinian or islam related material. or even nuclear weapons of mass destruction in israel.
i dont know about you guys but i found that tightVNC and radmin (maybe others but i have only worked with these two) has high CPU usage. occaisionally hitting 99% on legacy operating systems such as windows.
funny thing is.. its only one compaq pcs. p3 450 deskpros all the way up to p4 hp-compaqs. never on ibm pl or gl series tho. only compaq.
