it is to my understanding that the "firewall" in saudi arabia is 1. a proxy 2. a community driven black list
yes, you heard me, its the internet users in saudi arabia that wants to have these sites black listed and i applaud them, i dont want my kid to suddenly stumble upon a pop up of a naked woman in an indecent position. why should i set up my own proxy + black list when the government can and should do so? after all open source has proven more eyes kills more bugs. the bugs here are porn sites.
furthermore, this is not the only example of a community driven black list. if i remember correctly, the christian church of philipines has an isp that offers family-safe browsing.
thats true look at nessus and openvas. the guys at nessus decided to drop the gpl for version 3 and nessus 2.x was forked to gnessus (beep! illegal manouver) and then named changed to openvas.
someone call for a wine expert? the taste of this wine feels gritty.. probably from the swamps of virgina, the green taste is not to be confused with vine, its most likely slime. all in all.. 1995 was a bad year..
if ibm wants to give the cell wide acceptance. they should give free access to programmers. not just sell the blades. thats expesive. so.. 1) donate to sf.net serverfarm 2) have their own test drive program 3) donate servers to universities 4) donate a server to me 5) support linux on cell
You are making your company dependent on the GOOD WILL of others.
Quite to the contrary: with OSS, you are not dependent on anybody.
The real thing you should worry about is that with closed source software, you are at the mercy of your vendor.
tell me about it.. we bought an archiving software that was full of bugs that acted inconsistently and the company itself dint know how to deal with. in the end i believe we were a major reason the software company discontinued the product. problem is.. we are still stuck with the lousy piece of software and no support nor source code
"We have to get the death rate up to meet the birthrate." Guess what part got clipped from the replay a few hours later...)
you mean there is censorship in america?
"MINIX 3 is a new open-source operating system designed to be highly reliable and secure."
if it hadnt been for tanenbaum refusing to give the source code to linus to study, linus wouldn't have been galled into making his own operating system. and now 15 years later minix is released as open source
i have read some of the comments here and agree that as a consumer i wouldnt want to throw away something i bought nor have my right to use something i owned more than once taken away from me. however, how come no one has mentioned the environment? microsoft will be forcing consumers to dispose of useless plastic disks that do not decompose.
if you all will allow me to talk thru my hat (which since i m indoors, i m not wearing), donations are considered charity whether it be in cash or in kind, so long as a monetary value can be put to it. so by donating, microsoft is getting a tax break and all that goes with it. and all that bu*lsh*t
i opened so many tabs in firefox that i got lost as to what i m looking at. if maps.google would just put a marker with a general idea of what i m looking at. for example, africa, south america, etc, or country if they got that data would be nice!
i dint RTFA but from the synopsis provided, its a tutorial on how to build your own distro from scratch. its not talking about LFS but how to USE lfs to BUILD YOUR OWN DISTRO.
since u r not using it.. could you ship it to me? i will pay for delivery and use it to run linux which does not require a high end pc
thanks in advance
