Are there just a lot of geeks among reviewers who want information to be free? Are they selling them? It's strange to risk your job over something like this.
How long will this last? Libertarianism will triumph again, much like it has for the vast majority of our evolution. If bits can be shared they will. Pretty soon we will host consciousness on a computer. This computer will of course be able to record whatever inputs into our consciousness. This silly stuff should be long gone by that point.
Nerds (the future) should be reading this EULA. This is by far the biggest game production to be freely copyable. This is a beer, not speech "free", so it's not all the way there. But information, for once, is truly FREE. Yes, we're mostly libertarian, but even if government is behind it the liberation of information is a great thing. In the future, information will be free!
Is this not/.? Do we not strive to be bionic? Cochlear implants let you pipe music directly into your brain by stimulating the cochlear nerve. When these things get perfected I'm gonna get one even if I have perfectly "normal" hearing.
Someone who spent a lot of time making a mod still has to insert the CD in the drive just to please the copy-locking technology. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time on a mod just so I can promote a game that is copylocked. The community should get together to make an entire game free, not just the mods.
Ok, at some point we'll use a non-spoken numerical language and be much more logical. But for now, there should be some things you can do to promote the discovery over the discoverer. How about base 2 algebra over boolean algebra? Post papers anonymously.
Derive quadratic theorem (don't just spit it out!). Prove square root of two is irrational. If I remember, those who past generally were well liked by the others who interviewed them.
There's the root of the problem. Nobody creates an idea, or any of its forms. I don't know if its reverence or guilt. It's something like ego that we haven't evolved away from yet.
One thing that turned me off about math is the insistence in honoring these long dead people. That's focusing more on the discoverer than the discovery. I'm sure a reasonably intelligent person (like most of slashdot readers) could discover "Euclid's" infinitude of primes theorem. We probably would have if we didn't get in class along with the admonition to respect our elders. Take a patent if you want, Arenstorf. But don't insist people centuries from now worship you over the discovery.
The theory that temperature mucked with sex ratio casuing too few females seems more plausible. Human ratio (which is 106 men per 100 women--that's why only boys have to go stag) is not influenced by temperature.
The law of right triangles, the best of Mozart or Shakespeare, and the theory of gravity are all discoveries. Nobody creates an idea. All ideas, in all their forms, are discovered. It's just more obvious if it's an island, or DNA.
The spreadsheet just wasn't up to task--printing was a real problem. Information will be free and consciousness will be hosted on computers some day. But for now, office just does more.

The ultimate end is to host consciousness on a computer, and thus have control over its inputs and outputs.
That's right. Abolishment, not reform. But that's looking farther out, perhaps as part of much larger changes (like a huge meteor hitting).

That's why they won't take those who don't have hearing loss. It's good enough that they do take those with partial hearing. Just give it time.

Much like the locked down nature of consoles.

With heavy libertarian leanings, the average /.er may be more likely to use guns. Or maybe that just leads to the profound fascination.
That's where the money starts kicking in for these types of primes.

On one hand you can have a huge amount of RAM. On another, you can have memory mapped I/O. Anyone see the future of this?
Then there's Abelian groups versus commutative groups. Abelian is elitist and unncessary. If you need to use a name, don't capitalize it.

We'll be hosting consciousness on a computer soon. Would such a being want to recognize any of these humans you mention?

More anonymous works.

You can simulate everything pretty soon anyway with virtual reality.
I had printing problems in it and was comparing office favorably to it.

Libertarians tend to not like unions. Slashdot (and Wired) has a heavily libertarian slant.
