In the Windows world, I have used XingMPEG encoder to generate VCD-compatible movie files (There are some odd requirements) and used Nero Burning Rom to put them on cds.
Everywhere I have worked, the user data is stored on the server and it's done for a reason. The server is much much more reliable than your workstation (Well...) and is backed up on a regular schedule.
Would you rather rely on a 2 year old IDE drive that came with the computer, or the redundant backed-up drives on the server.
The users might like PCs, but they are a large headache to IS. IS departments are giving the mainframe approach a second look, because a dumb terminals (Wheter it is a 3270, X-Term or WinTerm) are much easier to manage from one central location, with little to screw up on the client side. Ghost fixes some symptoms, but not the problems with PCs.
With MS-PPP there is an extra step before PPP acually begins. One side (the server, I think) sends the text string CLIENTSERVER and the client is expected to respond with CLIENT. I had the same problems using a null modem and a Powerbook.
Try running tip on the linux side, and see what the NT sends down the line.
That was *humor*, as others have pointed out. I prefer using Novell for file/print services and FreeBSD for tcp services. Linux is (apparently) on the WatchGuard firewall.
1) BSD Sucks 2) Linux is best 3) BSD is too fragmented 4) BSD is dying 5) There is no software for BSD 6) There is no hardware support for BSD. <WHINE> I said it so all you trolls don't have to.
Without third party add ons? What *use* is a server that can only software programs from a single company? What is a company to do if they need UPS monitoring, Multiserver backup, Accounting/Accounts Payable or other catagories of software that Microsoft has not entered yet?
As for TerraServer: a) IBMs Patent Server (DB2) is bigger b) It was not the bastion of stability or reliability for a while. (Click on Utah, get the middle of the Atlantic)
Assuming this is not a troll...
I read that you had two asses, and the second one spewed fire. Have you since fixed this?
Your question assumed that what you read was true.

"Whoops, we just lost Peoria!"
He isn't *writing* the script, just reading it into a microphone.
If you havn't looked at Dents yet, you should. It's a nifty modular DNS server. And, AFAIK, there is no "non free" code.
The main site seems to be getting slow, so here is a mirror of the BSOD.
If the Dreamcast came out today, how did Rob (not Malda) get hold of one about two weeks ago? Was there some sort of preview program?

Star Trek: Enema would be more interesting than Voyager. The plot lines in ST:V were hokey, and the dialog wasn't very belivable.
The Turing story also had some pretty offensive posts.

5th post!
NT has AUTOCHK/CHKDSK not scandisk.
Sorry. I have seen it run so many times lately...

The proxy log would show the hit to licos.com (or whereever) that happened first.
The poster said that it was an embedded product, implying that the company would want to be able to sell it.

I am curious: What SP level is NT at, and what version of SQL server and IIS are you using?
The commerical name is Velcro
Macros can be extremely usefull when used in conjunction with something like F9.

"Witchhunt Foiled" sure sounds like propaganda, or at least extreme bias.
Didn't you hear? In the year 2025, they renamed Uranus to end those jokes once and for all. It's been renamed "Urrectum".
