Anti-terrorist unit dispatched. Don't resist, they are authorised to use lethal force. Lay on the ground immediately, face down, put your hands over head and wait for arrival of the security team.
I hardly ever keep the original files around. How do you uninstall then?
That's matter of methodology. I always keep a source tree I have built from, for 1. uninstall;-) and 2. just for case something went wrong so I can look at the source.
I always uninstall old version only if new version build succeeds. If it fails at runtime, no problem to roll back the old one. This is not so easy with packaged dependencies. With critical ware, I keep even multiple versions build tree around. A single dedicated 100GB drive holds me stuff for all platforms I use (i486, i686, arm), and I still have a 80G in reserve. A CD/RW is my friend, too. And you are right, broadband *is* essential, but even some distros are about 1G of packages updates monthly (Mandrake cooker).
For example, I don't want to waste time compiling
No need to waste your time. Did you try "nice -n 10 make"? I always run builds on lowered priority. Just now, I am building globulation somewhere on the background here...
This is just the beginning of DRM sneaking in agenda. They want you to have only their box, in order to put you under their control. They are willing it so much they will give you a free box. The first one. Once you get baited, you will pay hard for the second one five years later.
Simply you can't control those silly characters they appear on tv screen. You can't select news/political propagamnda content you are interested in. That's why computer games are superior over sitcoms as well as interent is.
"That's no moon! That's battle station!" And it definitely belongs to us, you insensitive clod! You, for one, will welcome us as your new alien overlords!
I flashed linux with qtopia to my old Compaq iPaq 3970 almost year ago, because WindowsCE ond PDA sucks. And the hardware has practically the same performace as this advertised gadget. In fact, I use runlevels to switch between X11 server with java, python and gtk stuff & co. and qtopia w/pim on framebuffer.
This cool piece of junk is definitely worth to be placed in a public exposition, just next to some relay computer. An astronomer capable of drilling and bolting is a rarity which must be remembered!
I have a positive feeling about Ogg Theora. Three days ago I installed binary only DivX for linux (closed source), and I am not very happy about it. I want video codec at top performance, optimized for CPU and maybe even 64bit platform later this year, not a 32bit binary pentium-only crap with possible vulnerabilities.
I very doubt it will be Mexico or Canada launching nuclear attacks against United States. Perhaps next America's civil war will be more interesting than I thought... Or maybe People's Republic of California against coalition of Kingdom of Maine and Texas Empire?
Build a sufficiently large photo panel, so that your house fits within it's shadow to reduce heat. No need to include costly batteries, then. Maybe you can plug an impressive tesla coil on top of panel to route an excessive power away.
Why such a dangerous facility has no autonomous power generator? I can't understand. In my country, autonomous power generator is an obligation to have for every simple hospital since the communist era.
Deny U.S. government to use your software by license (dis)agreement.

No one, even the canadian court, can stop the money. Once paid, all those isp companies will happily betray their customers.
Me too.

That's easy. Get the source again and build with the same target options as previously. Then "make uninstall" as root.
Isn't that the #1 reason to use packages instead? No, it is not.

I have no tv box for more than 9 years since.

Considering the fact we aliens do not use obsolete electromagnetic wave technology, it is a plain vaste of money for you earthlings.
I still have a Debian 2.1 on my 486/8MB notebook. It's installed from 11 flopppies. Well, maybe I should consider not to upgrade this time...

I can do md5sum by head. Now, beat me!
because mandrake drak* tools are the most buggy thingies from the whole distro, for ages.
I wonder if that "software" will ever pass it.

It will make a perfect tool for interrogate those evil terrorists and other citizens.
You young people have no esteem for elders. I still keep an 8'' floppy disk somewhere around here...
That would be really geeky for me!
The difference between Linux and Windows is the same as the difference between swiss army knife and pitchfork.
That must be really a very large number of these terrorists out there. I hope your government will quicksort them soon.
