I told him I don't do that, I don't have any copies of windows, and I wouldn't do that to someone that I like anyway.. I offered him Linux instead. He declined, I lost the sale. Life's tough..

How would you build social skills in someone more concerned with math, science and computers?
To me, this is a wrong question. Does he really need to build social skills? Perhaps he is not even interested about collective. I believe social skills are needed only for people without intelligence or talents, those who needs marketize selves to be recognized by others (lawyers, movie stars, politicians). Those who are talented or skilled, do not need any social recognition for their own work or effort, because their craft is grounded and evolved within themselves. It is a spiritual quality of the insight. Social recognition is merely ephemeral and very transient and rarely has any value to those people.
So, I would focus on developing what he likes and understands best. Forcing him to do other will only traumatize him and believe me, I know what I am talking about.

It is even possible on today's platforms, just take some PXA arm processor, wire some flash and ram chips to it, connect some ancient terminal to serial and alas, you have a linux machine.
There are basicaly two varieties of coffee on the world market, Robusta and Arabica. Arabica is much higher quality than Robusta.
It is essential for drink quality and final effect to use a 100% Arabica, not a cheaper Arabica-Robusta mix nor plain Robusta. Check your package for note about what variety it's made from, if it does not have any it's just a cheap Robusta.

I put Mandrake 10.0 rc1 two days ago, had a 9.2 previously. I feel very well with it, mainly because of both 2.6 kernel and KDE 3.2 speed up. It even makes my old workstation (Celeron overclocked at 375MHz) turn to useble machine again! Also, I can enjoy my old scanner (Artec) and color printer (Cannon S200) now fully operational with linux. So MDK 10.0 helped me to get rid of Windows 2000 completely, becaused I was forced to kept it just for scanner and printer issues with 2.4 kernel.
Evidently if Microsoft will somehow manage to destroy open source movement in United States by tweaking your legal system, it would have a very little impact outside an America. Many countries already adopted an open source as a tool for keeping a pace in technology race, and it is a strategic decision for them, not an economic one.
Even in U.S.A, outsourcing of IT industry is not something that is happening deliberately just by CEOs lowering costs for their companies only. It has a deeper background: global corporations wants always to move away from politically destabilized and unpredictable areas and this is exactly what States are now.
