I call on a boycott of "Real". Anyone who does business with this half assed company deserves to be screwed over because they knew going into the transaction that "Real" is a shoddy company.
I have lost no advertised functionality over the change in firmware
Really ?
A country where a large percentage of the voting populace believes the world is 6000 years old is performing poorly in an educational evaluation ?
Shocking.
I PAID for access to offensive, abusive, deragatory humor, sexual content, and Free Speech TV.
If I loose my mindless entertainment and indy reporting, I am much more likely to leave the house and become a criminal. PTC, please help keep lil johnny safe by staying out of my life.
major record labels are also engaged in a program of . ..bombarding it with billions of decoys and spoofs that pose as song files.
Seems like the same tactics they used to make the radio useless to record decent music. Pretty soon they will be extending the bombardment of large venues with decoys of real bands to inlude smaller local pubs to prevent people from hearing real music at a live show.
RIAA checklist 1) Radio full of decoy bands , check 2) P2P clogged with decoy s of real bands, check 3) Ticketmaster clogged with decoys of real bands, check
a scientist is always supposed to be ready to discard a theory>
Nice point, gathering enough data to outright discard a theory is often a bigger publications bragging right than throwing another brick on the pile of support for an idea. Part of what advances science is a cooperative effort to solve problems, another part is the ego stroking some people get out of proving everyone else wrong. Creationist seem to be discarding the part that shows flaws in the theory.
I think they must show someone waiting in a queue of 1200 people to log into a BBS in the eearly 90s, and the following violence that occures when the careless roomate picks up the phone.
I'm confused . .. Sirus does have talk shows, sports, entertainment etc I can listen to through the receiver device . . . but DOES NOT make this content available via the net ??
Is that correct, or am I misunderstanding what you said.
I would mod that insightful, if I hadn't already posted.
People who complain about steril AND contamination by GM products ARE opposed to... excellent point.
I'm more concerned about GM non-food products, grown in traditional food organisms and the prospect of contamination with the food strains.
I don't have any qualms about putting GM food on my table, and I've created a few transgenic animals in the lab.
How do they keep the new bioengineered products from cross pollenating with the standard food varieties.
GM "products" should be engineered to be sterile . . . it's not that hard to craft a triploid strain, or knock out a fertility factor. The crops are still clonable by traditional agriculture methods . . . but don't breed to make hybrids.
That, or we should be able to sue a company into oblivion for contaminating a nations agricultural products. Contaminating a nations food source, is bio-terrorism, and should be handled as such.
luckilly $$$ will keep broski off the backs of these corporations, and in the library watching what I read.
If you OS-X mac is crashing everyday, you should send it in for a check up. That sounds like a hardware problem. Maybe a bad motherboard, or some faulty memory ?

Seems to cover some of the vague ideas outlines in the patent. Of course IANAL and don't really know what the patent says.
I'm using firefox 0.8 on SuSE linux 8.0, linux 2.4.28. At work, so I can't change things.
I repeatedly get seg faults whenever I try to enter something into the subject line. Not the message body. Not the recipient. The seg fault is limited to when I type the first character in the subject line. The whole browser crashes, and I get a seg fault error displayed to the terminal. It's the only site I've come across that gives me any trouble, but it's trouble sufficiently large that I can use gmail because of it.
When the "large flood" occured, what happened to all of the plant life than could not survive immersion in water ? Did Noah bring two of each plant on board too ? Where did the incredible variety of plants come from ?
When the large flood expanded the oceans across the entire earth, how did the aquatic animals adjust to the changing salt concentrations in the water ? Were the aquatic animals aboard the arc too ? When did animals loose this incredible ability to adapt instantaneously to drastic environmental changes.
How did they keep the last two lions from eating the last two gazelles when they were released from the boat ?
I thought the same thing at first, but on a second read I think I figured it out.
Windoze admins switch to linux to save PHB money.
Linux didn't have a fancy *click* *click* configuration and took some knowledge to get setup
The budget didn't include educating the windows admins to run linux boxes The company went over budget because it never occured to them Linux was different to admin than windows. Company says linux sucks and switches back to windows.
How much did M$ $ to get this fine piece of literature published ?
"When we wrote the book, we thought the election system it described was a bit far-fetched," Thompson said. "We thought it's impossible that any real voting system would have these problems. Then we saw the GEMS software, and it had four of the vulnerabilities that we wrote about in the book."
Four vulnerabilities described in a book, at what point is it beyond a reasonable doubt that the diebold system is intentionally compromised to allow the results of an election to be altered ?

Mechanical Pong

I'm captivated by this mechanical device as much as I was with my first pong system.
Pong was the first time I can remember moving something displayed on my television around the screen with a control knob. Magically, other objects could interact with my bar on the screen in a manner that was intuitive and predictable. New experiences are often facinating/captivating to the audience. I don't see how the audience can be called primitive for having a natural response to a new experience.
I think it depends on what the company rep said when they convinced them to replace Unix with Windows.
If they advertised a consumer OS as an OS suitable for mission critical applications . . . then this flaw should not be in the software. It's could the software companies fault for agressively marketing their product where it should not be.
Maybe we should throw some blame to the PHB who ordered the switch. Purhaps there was no hard sell from MS, and a PHB saw a product brochure and got a hard on to switch.
I see your point though, the tech knew about the problem and failed to do his job.
I guess my question is, should the problem have been addressed before now, or is it common practice to wait for a catastrophic success like this to occur before addressing the problem ?
So ? A lot of companies would love to have AMD's spot on the fortune 500. They are a solid company.
A company doesn't have to be number one in profit to have a quality product and be a successful business with satisfied customers. It seems to me that the industry leader is more liikely to cut corners to maximize profits, while the number two company is competing on product quality (Apple, AMD).
AMD has never ran an ad campaign informing me the processor is inside the computer. AMD has never assaulted my ears with crappy noise from painted blue freaks.
1. Put the money into R&D 2. produce a great product a fair price 3. let the word of mouth advertising do it's thing. 4. Profit

I just wish the mac had a start menu so I could find the shutdown option.

Good thing the exchange rate makes it prohibitively expensive for Detroit residents to come over there and back. eh ?

Smarter use of advertising funds, imo. Assuming the ad was in something computer related, and not in 'Better Homes and Gardens'.
I love AMD for the stealth marketing.
