    Drilling in alaska or off the coast of florida would also decrease our dependance on foreign oil. I guess they don't want that either.

    since the "economy" is based on burning things that produce CO2, if it's not economical, it is by definition not possible. (to reduce the released CO2 using this method that is)

    Those cavemen are liars. If you watch the commercial, you'll see that their domicile, which is allegedly a cave, is in fact a modern house with standard white painted drywall, windows, and a grand piano.

    They're not cavemen. They're just regular men with bad hygene and heavy brow ridges.

    from his analysis, "40 cal/mile" I think he meant bicycle rather than motorcycle. If you can bicycle across country in 5 days, I'm impressed. Also I would like to see you leap tall buildings in a single bound and stop bullets with your skin.

    I'd say that the #1 downside of windfarms is that having them doesn't absolve you of building the enough 'traditional' plants to cover their capacity on calm days.

    No, my thinking is not "All-or-nothing" it is "any-or-nothing" since you have failed to provide an "any" I conclude that you simply enjoy complaining about others' supposed shortcomings. Capitalism works. Socialism has failed every time it's been tried, with the exception of places with "only a little" socialism. And even there it's simply taken longer to fail. Therefore, between the two, socialism is wrong and capitalism is right. If you're willing to present some kind of third option, i'm all ears, but all we've really seen so far is varying degrees of one or the other.

    Open source is "communist." It is predicated on the idea that software development should be like scientific research, but more importantly, that the resource is not diminished by sharing, but all benefit from said sharing. It seems to work pretty well too, so there must be something to it. I'm ok with software development being "communist" as long as software gets developed. I do not think it would work with hamburgers though.

    That's true, spanish is easy to use. Just like mac. French is even easier, and they have a bureau to stamp out unfrench words, keeping it closed and proprietary - windows. English is a bit more open-source. As a result, it seems to have incorporated just about every word under the sun, so really it should only be used by hardcore language hobbyists.

    Please explain how piracy is good/bad under your framework and what, if anything should be done about it. Also explain how, under this framework, you encourage the production of entertaining games to improve the quality of life for as many people as possible.

    I DID like that. because it killed off a character who's actor made comments to the effect that he didn't really care about the role. He committed the cardinal sin of sci-fi: He admitted he had no idea what the buttons did. He was proud of it.

    More importantly though, it showed that the deep magick that typically protects the protagonists had failed. It made the rest of the film much more exciting.

    Why is the solution always a BIGGER mouse with all sorts of curvy "ergonomic" bits. I'm convinced that if more people used the basic 2-button+wheel generic $9 logitec or microsoft optical mouse with the sensitivity up a bit, this would not be a problem.

    My UNI keeps buying those big curvy mice with thumb buttons and pinky buttons on the sides and all it does is force you to hold the thing awkwardly.

    Heh. I used to have a paypal account. Tried to cancel it recently. Aparantly, though I only used it once to make a payment, there is an outstanding balance of ~ $1.50, so they won't let me just cancel. I have to register a CC with them just to cancel the account.

    Ok, and if you're paying to dispose of things that are chemically harmful, but ultimately unprocessable, I can see that... but the price in dollars is a fairly good proxie for the cost in burnt oil to process something (for commodities that is) so I have to wonder if a lot of these services really are helpful for the environment if they have to charge both ends to be able to run.

    you pay for the privilege of recycling? doesn't it strike you as odd that they aren't paying YOU for your materials --- which are supposedly easier to process than just digging them up?
