    * The second can not be sold openly and you can't run ads for it (which was great marketing, when I was under 18)

I highly suspect it is the second.

    Even vague speculation highly welcomed!

So you are basically saying that they took a very hard look and did a rebalance. I played the game the day it was out and it was horrible. Also, I don't know why you think I could confuse a TA with SC. And walking through 1.5-2 times their cost in resources = no problem. But walking through more than that and it is yet another inbalance. I am glad they changed some things, though. Who knows, I might even give it another chance.

    1) It is mathematically proven that you can not prove every true statement that is allowed by the basic axioms. Sometimes, you _have_ to just introduce new axioms. Which then widens the space of true statements, some of which can not be proven using the existing axioms, rinse, repeat.

    2) Some things have been accepted as 'most likely true' and are used in proofs and 'everyday' maths without anyone being able to say for certain if they are true. Or if they _can_ be proved (see #1).

Yes, and there are 'a couple of balance issues' between a stick with a stone on it and tier 3 bots ;)

Honestly, the balance in SupCom was, literally, the worst I have seen in any game, ever. If that has significantly changed by now, please reply to this post & tell me :)

Supreme Commander would have been the first game I would have bought in years. I would even have installed Wine for it. It is one of maybe three franchises I care enough about so I would accept closed-source applications. Several of my friends and relatives were looking forward to the day they could buy the game.
But, and this is a huge problem, the game is so totally and utterly unbalanced on all levels that playing it is a valley of pain. You spend 20 minutes & a gazillion resources on a metal maker that creates about double the amount a normal one produces? You spend relatively few resources on a tier 3 bot and simply walk through several times its worth of tier 1 units? And that makes it into the wild? A real pity. On the plus side, TA spring is GPL'ed and has many nice mods available, most of which are under active development.

2 feet per second is 36 meters per minute. This is _way_ too fast.

The way I learned it is that at 25 meters or above, 10 meters per minute should be the absolute maximum. Ideally, you should go 5 meters per minute from 5 meters depth. Below 25 meters, you are allowed up to 20 meters per minute. The second you are using gases other than nitrogen & oxygen, those values change dramatically, though.

Of course, all those speeds are ascent speeds. Max descent speed is almost unlimited, though you will need to take gas switches, increasing pressure during breathing gaps, ear & mask equalizing, buddy teams etc into account. And then there is the good old kick in the brain when you breathe nitrogen at a substantially higher partial pressure for the first time. Drop down to 30 or 40 meters as fast as you can and take two or three normal breaths. The sudden increase makes for a free rollercoaster ride..
From what I heard, not what I tried myself, 60 meters per minute is as fast as a really good tech diver can go.

Actually, computers for technical diving will probably be the very last ones to get such a feature. Few features, but reliable, that is what those people are looking for.
Just look around how thrilled people are that you can access the dive log while under water on a VR3. It's just one more thing to keep in mind, which you usually don't want.

Though, admittedly, there are circumstances, when a beacon would be great.
For example, when you can't even see your own gloves because the water is so murky. Or when you can't see the flashlight of people who are only a few meters away. Or in blue-water with literally no reference point. Or.. :p
