Here are some information. You will see more shop selling pirated everything in shopping mall (and on the street) in HK than you can find Starbucks in US (I am sure those who visited HK know what I am talking about)
Nobody seem to try to crack down on those, well, I guess because those are control by ganster or dirty cops, who knows... But those should really be the kind get crack down first..
Microsoft keep trying to break into whatever market makes money. I think we will soon see the title "Porn over IPTV" (PoIPTV) push by microsoft.
you might ask, we already have "Porn over IP" (PoIP), why would microsoft want to do that. Afterall, they are a "innovative" software company, that they would do anything (ethical and unethical) to break into the market that makes money.
mod me flamebait if you like, this is just how I feel.
Tech itself have not much use unless it is driven by something, soemthing that we call human.
It doesn't matter what the sensor tell us, if people just ignore the data from those sensor, it won't do anything.
On the other hand, people can assume things (eg. nuclear weapon), and does not matter what those "sensors" dectect, peole will just interpret them as threats.
it is understanable that google leave out those site. when people use the google chinese to search news site, who will most likely to come from China. even if google return the "correct" result, if the chinese goverment have already block the site, they will be clicking on the dead link.
if google don't take out those site, then it will in turn hurt google.
I am not saying it is a good thing, I personally don't agree on internet censoring, but that's how china work, it is something that won't change in a short while.
if people turn on there machine, and find a search box right on the desktop
ok, now you said it, let's hope that msn can not find this part. Otherwise, they will patent that before you do, and they are going to put that on the Windows XP SP2, since they are going to compete very, very hard.:)
this time, they are going to do car business. once they win the compitition, what is giong to happen, something similar to Internet Explorer? just hope they are not going to win...
but I mean, with Microsoft's reputation who would want to buy the car that equiped with anything that is Microsoft? maybe I am just worrying too much.
oops, I copied the wrong word, that's what they use in the article, AstroNote instead of Tricoder, if you look at the linked article
my spelling is not so good, therfore when I look for the word astronauts in the article, I found the wrong word. lol, lucky I didn't get any AstroNut instead.:)
ok, think about it, they are bringing only 2 of them up there, and they have to leave it there. If they have the money to build a rocket and other research materials, why not just give each of the Astronote an iPaq. I am pretty sure the iPaqs cost nothing compare to the space shuttle itself.
are they trying to cut back the cost? makes me wonder.
Here is the story that was covered by slashdot. I was refering, took me sometime to find it. If you have time taking a look.
I have not follow their law suit, but I guess if judges give too much power to the cooperation, they could effectivly kill some (or many) open source projects.
Is my worry reasonable? Also, the next thing after DVD, I am pretty sure that they are going to make it harder to reverise enginner, and they might use that to sell overpriced equiment/software even you bought the media. that's already happen to iPod, well, I relly hope that is not going to happen.
a while back, there was this news about a software company got sue and loss the battle. Because the judge considered the CSS is digitial lock, and anyone who break the lock violate the law. (sorry i cant find the article anymore)
anyways, I use mplayer ans xine to play (legal and illegal) video, it is not about guilt, what I worry about is that it might interfere with the development of applications like mplayer. Looking at the larger picture, I don't want linux to be a free* operating system, but everything you use in there is not free* at all.
I am surprise that MS Media Player make into linux, actually, very surprise. for video, mplayer (or xine) would be more powerful than that "thing", to play music you don't really want to use MS Media Player unless you have a lot of ram. What's the point of this?
if you can't beat them, join them. Maybe microsoft start to understand this.
btw, the so called "legal playback" of DVD in turbo linux.... *sigh*... makes all of us that don't have turbo linux illegal when watching dvd in linux?
everything boils down to money, that's what's happening. But when I boil down my water, I don't see any money, instead I have a large water and gas bill...
as someone noted before, encrypt everything. It is not just good idea for file swapping, also, it is good practice incase of information leak.
anyway, that's not my point, I think it would be good idea if people can change the software slightly so that it block different thing, *cough*spam*cough*, it might be more constructive than blocking `any` kind of copyrighted material. Well of course, it would be nice there is no censoring of information, but we are too far away from that.
if you like this, thank you. If you don't, sorry I took your time to read this.
their number one seems to be their advertisers, then their bottom line, then the consumer.
I always thought that real player is so successful that too many people is using it, so they wanna piss some of the costomer off. lol, and they have successfully pissed me off, I havent been using real player for a few years.
Notice the earth getting hoter and hoter?
Come on, someone gotta try this, I would love to see the correlation between Global Warming and decreased CD purchases.

I am not sure about the rotting smell, but I always smell something fishy about Microsoft.
here is what it seems to me... the page have no content, and it try to link me to an advertisment site.
I just hate that science get hinder by a small group of ignorant politician. yeah, call me flame bait but this is true.

the answer is most likely not, since they are bunch of short sighted mad dogs... I beileve all the computer they have run in Windows.
wouldn't that be better to sell the info to spamers? Just a thought.

or even better, start with a better operating system.

if you walk in front of goverment building and you see the note saying that, "explosion" that would scare the hell out of everyone.

free*: as in freedom, not just the price.
:) thanks, after I read it the second time, I realise that it is not WM9. The title is a misleading.

In the page that "Interview with Element Computer Regarding ION Linux" it slap a big advertisment on the left titled "Buy Microsoft Windows XP".
I don't know which one is worse, Micorsoft Windows or ION Linux that limit your computer. this is just sad.
:) Fire_in_the_hole on that FireBush would be cool too.
