Why not just use rechargables? The 360 controllers are supposed to have an optional battery pack that can recharge itself thru the cord while youre still playing it (no idea about PS3 though). As for other batteries, I've started using these little guys in everything I have and they're awesome....so to rephrase/reuse your prior statement... I hate regular batteries, but I love rechargables;)
That's what really scares me about the current game industry. Everyone's so focused on their pretty graphics that the rest of the games components, like physics, AI, or even gameplay are taking a backseat. They might as well put "produced by Jerry Bruckheimer" on half the shit games that come out..
*P.S. Sorry to any Bruckheimer fans out there...but I couldn't think of a better all flash, no substance Hollywood guy at the moment:P
The real benefit will be when all the AI is one processor, all the physics are on another, and the rest is on the third. Just because individual components of the game engine aren't easily threadable doesn't mean the entire game isn't. As far as the lackluster performance reports I'm not surprised either...remember all they hype Sony put on the Emotion Engine? Still...if you compare a $300 Xbox360 or PS3 with a $300 PC there should be quite a nice gain in performance;)
1. It's open source, so users have much more freedom with their systems regardless of whether or not they use it. 2. It's very different. Windows' model for 3rd party apps is actually much more "open" than the repository system all the distros are trying to use. Your 3rd party applications and your OS (read distro) should be completely seperate.
The other thing we need in the mean time is for more commerical products to be released for Linux. Unfortunately the installation hell of so many different package managers scares off alot of companies. Hopefully as AutoPackage grows we'll see more commercial apps coming to Linux as well. Sure, I'd love for it to all be open and free, but that's just not very feasable right now.
Isn't this old news? I seem to remember Sun & Microsoft making all nice with each other quite a few months ago...oh yeah, and there's that whole OpenSolaris thing...
It's not really that great a site, but it's extensive. You can google for hundreds of other snippets here and there from more reputable sites if you'd like;)
I don't know so much about the Terminator part...my theory on that is she decided to let it go orginally but when the Matrix came out with an almost identical story she decided to go ahead and sue the Terminator guys while she was at it.
That wasn't her own person site idiot, she doesnt' have one. And yes, I have seen portions of the script on another site...and it was damn near word for word.
Yeah, the sentinel thing bothered me alot too. I figured they were gonna try to say that the "real" world was just another matrix, so the green one was really a matrix within a matrix....or something.
Another thing to add to the complaint list on fights...the final battle between Smith and Neo. 1. Too much CG. 2. It felt like a live action Dragon Ball Z fight (read lame) and 3. Why would Smith fight Neo with a hundred copies earlier, but in this fight the millions of smiths all just sit and watch?
One of my favorite gaming writers is Stephen Tolito (sp?). He's a freelance writer, but you can find his stuff all over the place. He used to have the regular column "Cubism" over on IGN. I think I saw him writing an article for Wired or something recently...
The real heart of the problem is the current business model the game industry is running under. It is similar to the way old-Hollywood ran before the 50's or 60's. The actors are used to being treated decently in movies/tv so of course they expect the same from the game industry. But before their issues even begin to matter, we must have some extreme reform for developers first! It is time developers started standing up to these uber-publishers and demand fair treatment. Every member of the game's development team should get some sort cut from the profits and at least half of the game's wholesale profits need to go to the actual devloper in the first place. Currently the publisher takes a much much larger cut than they deserve, and this is what has to change before anyone, developers or voice actors, can be payed appropriately.
Ok, about 10 years ago my dad was fired from his job because he would not lie to a customer about some shifty pricing. My mom had just had a baby and there were now 3 of us kids. The only way for us to make it till he found another job was to live off unemployment/wellfare. Some people actually need and deserve this stuff... so go ahead, try and disprove it...
Life's not that simple. For every person ripping off the unemployment system there are 9 others who actually need it. Well, that is unless this new type the article talks about takes off...Maybe people will actually start to enforce proper management of the system?
The only way to really be secure with your identity is to not use any automated services involving your ID numbers. Don't use your phone even...do everything in person. But who wants to do that? It's once again a matter of security vs. convienence, and most people will lean towards the latter...
Still...just like most of the other mainstream news sites manipulating information, does this mean we'll get to hear all about how their competiton has security problems, but very little about their own?

I was talking about one of the 3 cores on the Xbox360, not the Phys-X chip ;)

If Wil Wheaton has mod points and uses them on the comments of his interview, does that count as a violation? heh....

When you say "reading the classics" you mean playing old text games right? Or perhaps something like Final Fantasy 6 (3 in US)? ;P

Sorry...lol. Didn't realize it was there...good ol' Flashblock took care of it for me ;)

Does the book mention that Matrix 1 was a rip-off of an old script from 1981 called "The Third Eye"? ...this also explains why 2 & 3's plot was so different and poor.

damn....I knew I should have hit that preview button :P
Apparently you missed both of these...

Just as long as we don't attempt to create a transporter once we're there...

"Opera is configured by default to identify itself as Internet Explorer"...well, then that's your own damn fault :P
