    Um, except the US is only the only industrialized country with a climbing birth rate - +0.883% (2008 est.)

    Compared to say negative growth rates in the other countries mentioned.

    * New UI technique -- hit windows key, type the name of your file or program, and hit enter. (The upgraded Explorer has a whole bunch of new and useful bits, but this is the one I miss the most from the Beta.)

    * Old XP technique -- hit windows key, hit R, type the name of your file or program, and hit enter. (Why that was worth $200, save pressing the R key.)

    Thats 80 million barrels per day, or 30 billion barrels per year. Either way, we have still hit peak oil.

    easily the worst I have seen, made my girlfriend leave early because of sea-sickness. She forced me to go back in to find out how it ends. Felt like cheering as each person got killed, then the end, where the monster wasn't even shown. You could hear the groans in the cinema.

    Followed closely by Black Hole, from Disney or something, with lines like: "... our mission is to seek out habitable life."

    I have an ASUS M2N (centrino and wirelss) and have got 5 hours of surfing and game play out of it before I realised I hadn't pushed the power cord far enough into the socket. It has 4 cpu speeds, so dims and dumbs itself down when running off batteries. I wasn't even on the slowest speed. .

    Very impressed.

    Even when its updating, the Norton Firewall is active.

    Then how does his computer get hosed?

    Why doesn't Norton's firewall work after the computer is connected?

    I have never had this problem, maybe because I have always had either had a non-Nortons firewall installed, or been behind a hardware firewall. Am I missing something here?

    What he is saying is I disagree with most of what they say already, so I will ignore the rest.

    The jury is still out on whether humans are causing/have caused global warming.

    Only for scientist working for Bush and Oil companies, that is the entire point of the article.

    Commonsense says in a world of limited resources, cars that consume twice as much, and are more likely to kill people might be a bad idea... But what the heck! It is a free world who believes in that "tragedy of the commons" stuff anyway.

    ...At the same time, I don't have much regard for "professional activists", who are driven more by their desire to change something, anything, than to achieve a particular goal. If a group of scientist disagree with a governments policies they shoudl do what? It isn't just the UCS, with their "flakey" world view that has these opinions. Half a dozen editorials in magazines like New Scientist etc. have also expressed them in the last couple of years.
