not to mention that some of the most immersive 3d environments are created by SGI hardware all based around the OpenGL API.
Now if you want to simply talk about games, sure there are more DirectX games since MS monopolized the desktop market.
Anyways I think serious gamers should do something productive. I only play ut2k4 to blow off some steam.
what video card's/respective drivers support opengl 2.0 . Even the top of the line ati/nvidia cards support only opengl 1.5. I don't know about SGI's graphics subsystems though.
It's conservatives like you who slow down progress in the US. I'll gladly live within a safe distance (EPA/government regulated zone) of a PBNR. I'll tap power from their substation and never worry about losing electricity. If I get radiated or die prematurely then so be it. At least the air will be cleaner where I live.

My boss writes/edits NIH grants using their mandatory DOC templates. He runs MacOSX+MacMsOffice (I don't know what version exactly), but he is constantly having problems with the way MacMSOffice handles all images/formating from the NIH (presumably created in Windows MsOffice) in "meta" mode that is it creates "metaobjects" for all drawings and pictures. Sometimes formatting doesn't show up like it does on the Windows version and drawings are all garbled.
I often take the template and save it in Word DOC format using StarOffice v6 or the latest OOo and then give it back to him (I think he's too scared to use *nix, even when it's just a point and click gui.) This seems to fix most of the visibility errors when he reloads it on his Mac, but some of the formatting is still messed up (e.g. text won't wrap around images). IMHO, why not just take MSWord out of the equation all together.
The first thing you should try to ask people when they ask whether to buy PC v MAC is: What will be your primary use of the computer?
If they say mainly for web surfing/emailing/office applications I would definately tell them to buy a PC, and I would definately advise them on how to secure their box against worms/virii.
Resale value? The last thing we need are car salespeople trying to sell computers to n00bs.
1) The resale value applies only to another MAC/Apple consumer.
2) Assuming (1), Apple doesn't make enough new models within the same year to have the previous model priced down %50.
3) PC market is much more competitive, hardware innovation turnaround is quicker so relatively older (6 mos) models will be much less expensive.
Looks to me it's basically a tabletpc/notebook type chassis on a stand mount. A similarly configured pentium M or athlon M could be created generically and much more cheaply. The only reason i never bought an apple is because I'm too poor and I get better performance/price ratio with x86 & x86_64.
Why don't you guys over at Intel/AMD R&D start building a mobo that would fit into a similar type of chassis.
..ownership of copyrights. Today most copyrights are owned by the record industry and not the artists themselves. As more and more people across the world gain access to computers, a new type of artist/musician/producer will be born who will bypass large conglomerates such as the RIAA and MPAA. No longer will music be held captive in the hands of greedy capitalists, but they will truly belong to the artists themselves.
That's why you use a HOSTS file to stop access to known advertisement vendors (e.g. doubleclick). Or you use a real intelligent browser like Opera which allows blacklist/whitelist or full control over what filetypes run and don't run and on what web site (allowing you to block flash from say cnn.com or yahoo.com)
Why doesn't everyone own a Japanese auto? Because really, the American products are good enough. MS is good enough (and American:).
Because most people are too poor to buy a japanese car and some people like bigger/more powerful american cars for the same price you dish out for a japanese car.
When a software company reverse engineer's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_engineering) another's product and assimilates that code into its' own products the most that happens is that they get sued but most of the time they just get away with it and make money off their product.
When hackers find exploits/RE/forcefully take code they get sued (possibly) and then sent to prison.

Your opengl link is broken.

The capsule is half buried into the ground. But it appears to be mainly intact.

But Xplane blows away flightgear (and msfs2k4) :(

Indeed, why is our genome 95%+ similar to that of chimpanzee's?

I see no difference, you are forcefully taking the code either way, its not from scratch, that was the whole point of the similarity.

Anyone see anything wrong with this?
