  1. Re:Bank, please explain me once again... on Financial Malware Hijacks Online Banking Sessions · · Score: 1

OK, I'll bite. How do you access a bank site without a browser? Are you going to make everyone buy a modem again? Use a cell phone? Not trolling, just want another method that non-techie types can use. People can always call up the bank I suppose. I understand fraudulent transactions are more of a problem in Europe/Germany because wire transfers between banks are free, unlike in the USA.

Big sucker isn't it? The evil plot here is to make cell phones slowly morph into connected laptops so everyone has a computer that is required to have a data plan that pays out $100/mo to Verizon instead of $50/mo to Time Warner.

  7. Re:Lens flare? on Sun Produces First Cycle 24 X-Class Solar Flare · · Score: 1

Agree this is not a lens flare in the usual sense and is a CCD artifact. If this were a saturated set of columns the artifact (vertical stripe) would be as bright as the central spot which it is not. If this sensor is of the interline type (not likely), then it would be termed "smear". If it is a full-frame device, then it would be an afterimage effect (image retention). Charge is stuck in traps which have a slow release time and bleeds out during the frame readout.

  9. Re:O_o on Saudi Students In US Seek Segregation By Gender On Facebook · · Score: 1

There is a theory that religions evolve over time. So ancient religions are considered more "primitive" than more recent ones. Worshiping idols is considered more backward than a monotheistic faith. Islam is the most recent of the major religions and should therefore be the least primitive and most advanced. Of course, if you apply this idea to music or literature, you might give yourself a headache.

  11. Nice toy, but... on Why Dumbphones Still Dominate, For Now · · Score: 1

I really don't need it and a cheap dumb phone is fine for me. If I got one just for the bigger screen I am forced to have a data plan I don't want. Why should I watch videos on a tiny screen? There are actual big TVs now. Why am I paying for home Roadrunner and then paying AGAIN for net access on a phone? And then the hardware becomes obsolete in 2 years? It's just idiotic. I sometimes wonder who is paying for smart phones that kids use. If it's parents, they need to wise up. If kids are using a good chunk of their own paychecks for a phone, this is a waste. The only reason to have one is if someone at a party asks you where the best Bosnian restaurant in Stockholm is. You can whip out Google on your phone and everyone will say,"Ooooooo".
