Lucky you. I have a very different experience with flash on Ubuntu-8.0.4.1-amd64 ; After about 6 to 8 flash videos (Youtube.com, news websites etc) flash doesn't work anymore (gives me a blank white window) until I restart Firefox. The same cycle continues ad-infinitum. Since I fiddle with Oracle databases all the time on this machine - I got the brilliant idea to upgrade my machine to use 4G of RAM and now I cannot happily browse without restarting Firefox every now and then.
Finally switched over to my backup desktop with 32 bit Ubuntu and I am back to normal again.
As a manager who hires H1B on a regular basis, I can attest that its not as easy as you say to get INS/USCIS to deport an H1B.
Once an H1B gets a job as an employee (not a contractor) his immigration status is kind of immaterial, its only important as an expense for visa renewals and green card application.
Once a H1B is an employee he is/has to be treated in a similar way as any other employee - failing to do will be inviting discrimination lawsuits.
Almost all midsize/large corporations do not go all the way up to USCIS/INS to get a visa cancelled just because of trivial work/life balance mismatch between employee and job requirements. Off course serious misconduct is always pursued to see that the employee returns to his home country. This is done to maintain good company image with the INS/USCIS. When the wheels in HR turn to get the visa canceled, its already being transferred to another employee.
As someone already stated in one of the above threads, the retail POS system, the order management system and the billing systems are totally independent. Unless the retail POS connects all the dots (your order from OMS and the billing details once the phone is activated) it will not be able to figure out the exact cost including the tax and additional charges.
This incident effective highlights the organizational and management failure of the whole IT system at San Francisco public department. Its insanely incompetent and gross neglect of duties on everyone's part who made this guy the Lord of the network. There needs to be effective administration, documentation and oversight of things like these. I hope the people of SF wake up and demand some structured organization and competent people to manage these systems.
Would you, personally, by hand, go out and try to feed EVERY homeless person in your city? Not build a shelter and feed the ones that come in. Actually walk the streets with a bag/shopping cart/truckload/whatever of food, and find the homeless, and feed them?
Probably not me or anyone in my generation; but the amount of time, money and effort wasted in waging these wars [war on drugs, war on terrorism, war on Islamic fundamentalist etc.] could have been well spent on improving the education system her in US which could have resulted in what you wished there.
I wonder every time when people complain here about the student/teacher ratio - I came from a place where we had 120+ students in almost all my grades and still over 60% of the students managed to graduate with excellent grades.
I am no expert at federal/state statute for crime investigation, but if the crime is committed across state lines then I believe the FBI has to be involved.
The taxes should be equitable. If you earn more, you should proportionately pay more.
I agree with Buffet, he should be paying proportionately as his employees pay.
See http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2007/06/warren-buffet-p.html
The problem is, businesses and business lobbies have secured so many short cuts for saving taxes for big businesses the middle class is obviously jealous.
I won't be surprised when someone comes up with the numbers for % of taxes paid by top 1% money earners - its a fact.
Well, if "our" dollar falls wouldn't be the price higher then the one quoted by the GP?
Lower gas prices could be possible only if dollar gains unbelievably or somehow electric cars are the norm in 2011 and nobody cares for the middle-east oil anymore.
Wishful thinking I know.
Not a bad idea. I was once driving 60 in 65 mph limit and on the right most lane, everyone was happy cruising on the other lanes except for one dude who was hell bent on me driving faster; when he brandished his gun it was enough motivation for me to take the next exit.
The folks in the class action lawsuit do not care about Vista.
They are willing participants because they in/voluntarily paid for a POS software.
Heck I am guessing many of them may not be even on the lawsuit for money (like me) - but just to score a moral/physiological victory for the pain they suffered for owning a system with Vista on it.
I am guessing that you are not yet preached by your legal team. Its still a discrimination unless you have sufficient proof to support that the job requires additional education not covered in the UofK; in that case you need to clearly advertise that UofK pass out need not apply. You can always not hire a UofK pass out by just saying - more qualified candidate filled the job.
I don't think this issue is about getting the lowest price. BB is accused of showing a different (allegedly higher) price for the same item when checked via the internal website which is similar to the public bestbuy.com

Yes, unless off course you plan to do it via tele-commuting. VISA has nothing to do with pay, see precise definition here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_(document)
My cow orker says the same here - Nicole Sexton.
You missed to include the bribe^H^H^H^H^H political donations and politician's spouses' weekly consultation fees in the 25K.

That's the second best thing. I already did the first best thing and I am not looking back.
Same here. My trusty 8700 and now 8820 and midpssh had saved my a$$ countless number of times during lunch/dinner breaks when on call.
rebooted the machine at the first pop up alert ;-)

X crashing or hang-ups don't reset your uptime.

With W having the key to the suitcase and D as the proxy president special nuke release codes are not such a big deal anymore.
You can try that when you are locked up in Shawshank for making backups of the DVDs you bought legally.

Not sure if this is just a hoax or for real.
Loud mouth Neil Boortz mentioned this over his talk show yesterday.
