Please CmdrTaco, oh lord and master of slashdot, please start using SSL for every bit that is sent out from/. I'll start using SSL on my website, if we all use SSL imagine how much encrypted data the FBI would end up with, what are they going to do decrypt it all?? Of course with the current bills in congress soon we will all have to use encryption that has backdoors so all these laws can be tied together to tie us up and rape us all in the backdoor...
I can say for sure that an HP B2000 (HP9000/785)with a 400MHz PA-RISC (1.5MB cache 512MB RAM) CPU runing either HP-UX 10.20 or 11.0 smokes an (admittedly sucky) Sun Ultra-5 400MHz (512K cache -so the whole test is iffy anyway- 512MB RAM) workstation running Oracle 8.1.5/6 on S(l)olaris 7 or 8. If I had my choice I would go for an HP workstation over a Sun unit anyday, BUT I can buy about 8 500MHz SunBlade-100 workstations for the price of one B2000... Don't get me wrong the HP is server class hardware in that workstation, a better product in every way, but OMFG do you pay for it. The Suns are 'commodity' class hardware but great bang for the buck if you need a mature 64bit platform and O/S.
It will be a shame to see it go, but maybe I can get some of those HP workstations cheap soon.... 8-)
This is a real review dimwit. The review said, this game has more bugs than features, the software publisher knows it, and is moving at a glacial pace to fix the problems. That tells me all I need to know. (i.e. Don't buy it for my wife just because I know she'd probably like it, wait 3 more months for her Birthday. Maybe we'll have some patches by then...)

Standard? The only standard is that no politician would want/dare to be seen as 'soft on crime' by introducing legislation to stop trying 13 year olds as adults. When kids are sent to adult prisons the sentice may as well read 'Life at orally and anally recieving semen.' The average life sentence should be about 6 months from incarceration to the prison AIDS ward...
>>Hmmm Let's see...Oracle published Version 8.1.7 for Linux a year ago, where is the 64 bit sun version?
Well I have it running on, 2 e450's, 1 e4500, and on 2 Ultra5's...
>>price/performance, Solaris can't touch it....
It would be interesting to see a cost/oracle-transaction break down when you start talking about enterprise servers. Say how many transactions/second can an e10k with 64 CPU's and about 1TB of RAM do? Now how big a linux cluster/pull-whatever-kind-of-x86-HW-out-of-your-a ss-to-compair-to-an-e10K would it take to get as many transactions/second?? How much will all that hardware cost? What will each system cost you over 5 years? (Admin salaries, hardware maintainace, how many $$ you lose to downtime, office space, power, A/C, etc..)
I don't really think that linux can even be compaired to Solaris in a case like this. Apples to oranges.
Of course I'm wasting my time responding to an AC who is just trolling anyway...
I administer 2 e450's one is about 2 years old, one about 1 year old. I have had one power supply go bad on me. (The server didn't go down until I shut it down to swap in the new PS, and it could have been hot-swapped.) The uptime on one of the e450's was 5 months 14hrs, when I checked it before I moved into our new bigger server room. No random reboots, no bad CPU's no bad RAM. I have been happy with the e450's, until I started getting some HP servers, an L2000 with 4 360MHz 2 MB cache cpu's, 4GB RAM abosolutly SMOKES the e450's with 4 400MHz 4MB cache CPU's 4GB RAM. Next to the HP's the suns just aren't up to speed.(HA!)
(I have an e4500 12 way too, now that is FAST, but I don't have an HP box to compare it to.)
In Switzerland ganja is legal for medical use, in the same category as other over the counter herbal/homeopathic remedy, no prescription needed you just need to be 18 to buy it retail. (I suggest 'Hemp It UP!' in Bern, it is across he square from the cathedral.)
Not all Alcatel 1000's are affected, only the 'newer' (i think the 1000's are discontinued) that are 'smart' (i.e. have some routing/NAT capabilities) are vulnurable to the crack, my OLD A1000 is DUMB. Just a bridge, no management interface at all...

I TOTALLY agree with you but, GUARDED is the key word here. If no one is willing or able to defend these freedoms we ALL risk losing them.

I don't want my FPS'er to get too much more real looking, anymore and it will start too look a bit too much like the real thing. (IMnsHO) Can you imagine 3-D 'victims'?? Thats getting to be a bit much... Not that I think that this ubercool new display is a bad thing or that it is aimed at the gamer market, but it will trickle down eventually...
You think the copyright holder gets any of that money??
ROFLOL!!!
It is the movie studios and record companies that get ALL the money. The tax isn't to help the artists whose work is being ripped off, it's only for the benefit of the big corporations who lobbied congress to pass that SHIT.
BTW- Have you noticed the price difference between generic CD-R's and the ones that are sold as 'best for audio'? The 'best for audio' CD-R's are the ones that have the tax on them.
But don't worry since you don't take the time to write your congressman you'll be paying the tax on all computer media soon... Crying here on linuxslutdot will not help. Your congressman has never even heard of./

P=momentum
v=velocity
