  1. Nintendo Is/Are My Roots on Videogames: In the Beginning · · Score: 2, Insightful

Seriously what theh heck is wrong with saying your roots are in Nintendo? What I would take this shirt to imply would be that Nintendo were the ones who inovated video games largely back in the early ninties and late eighties. They made gaming incredibly fun, and that's where video gaming really started to take off. Contrast the fun early nintendo and super nintendo games with the crap that Sony is pushing no where most games sell because of pixelated breasts, blood, and by playing to the lowest common denominator. It's one of the reasons I still have yet to own any Sony playstation product. And actually might never. Also one of the reasons I refuse to buy just about anything from Sony.

Fact is you know jack if you'd GIMP before Fireworks. You show me what you do in GIMP and I'll show you up with something made in Fireworks... though that would probably be not only because you're using worse software but because you're also lacking talent. And why the heck would I use Linux if I'm interested in Design... that's like suggesting that I use OS X for a gaming rig.

  5. Frankly... In Some Markets But Not Graphics on Can Open Source and Commercial Software Coexist? · · Score: 1

In the Graphics market, and by that I mean Graphic Design, open source has some place... but I can't see it taking over the the point where you could do genuinely good design just as well with open source as you could with closed source. Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, Freehand, etc. have no REAL competition in the Open Source market. Sure if you consider Photoshop just a really chunky upgrade to MS paint because all you do is take a brush and drag the cursor then sure the GIMP can compete. But if you want to get serious work, done fast with advanced features... you're out of luck without a photoshop licence. Word Processors, drivers, encoding software etc are one thing. But when Open Source has to design an interface for an artist... it tends to not do so hot. I think GIMP MIGHT be able to be a genuinely useful tool in a pro artist's tool box... in a couple of years... but not any time really soon.

Oh please, this was not EXTREMELY sexist. This was a generalization based on sex. Sexist requires a discriminatory nature, or some sort of hate, essentially some sort of negative feeling toward the other sex. I do not have that, nor is that inherent in my comment. I was more stating a general observation. If I honestly have to think of all the people I know, I can only think of one woman I have met offline who I would genuinely say was technosavy. She had an iMac and used Photoshop, Quark, and wanted an iPod more because it could be a portable HD. Kinda hott actually. That said I have met some women who know how to use what they know, but who I wouldn't call technosavy. Then again perhaps my standards are high. But frankly you will find guys are almost always more willing to fiddle with a program to figure out how it can do what they went, than your average woman will. This doesn't mean that there are no women who know stuff, I'm just saying there are disproportional numbers when comparing genders.

Women especially with technology if they use it enough to get by will claim they're experts.

The advantage that I have is that in my class, I was one of the smartest. We had a fair number of Christian students, all of us came out more sure of our position than we went in. This whole bogus idea that to believe in something other than evolution requires you to be stupid, I think is the brain child of someone with a very small penis. Let other people think differently than you. A theory of a young earth will not kill your children in the night. It won't eat your Debian boxes, and Microsoft is not a Christian company. Are you telling me you never had your iPod with you and said, wish I could get that on film? if Apple could get a 2MP camera onto the end of an iPod, throw in a colour display, and keep it simple they would sell very well. We all know it... least... we assume they would. Keeping in mind I said if Apple could do it, not if they just stuck one on the end, we have to keep in mind the fact that Apple kicks butt with design and thus it would actually be useful. I imagine an iPod sized device with a micro drive ala the mini and a 2MP camera would be a really good paring. That said iPhoto if it was ported to the PC would most likely be less feature rich, they'd probably sooner bundle some basic software with it.
