[Women] would probably perform better, all things considered (greater durability and pain tolerance, smaller size for better stealth ops, lower ration requirements and equipment material costs). Wait a goddamn second...are you saying that women are SMALLER than than men? WTF are you talking about? Do you have statistics or scientific evidence to back that up?
That's like saying that men, in general, are stronger than women.
I don't believe this would work for a number of reasons...
All I'll say is that this software patent system is sick. The only way to do away with it is to get rid of it. Sure, copyright your specific implementation of whatever you like, but you can't patent a logical construct, which is exactly what is happening here.
I agree, but it occurs to me that this is the classic example of a "Public Relations" issue. The masses might be more charitable towards MS if they had, at some point along the road, endeared themselves in any way.
Linux, right or wrong, is still reaping the benefits of the goodwill fostered by being free and being the little guy.
Honestly, can you really tell me that MS isn't getting what it deserves?
I'm a full-time Linux user, and I agree completely. Sure, MS isn't exactly angelic, but there is certainly a very specific tone that people take when they issue fixes.
Also Foxit Reader is agreat windows viewer. PDF isn't the problem, Acrobat is horrible.
It has actually improved in the last couple of major releases, though. Not nearly as bad as it was.
Yeah, but the point being made in the article is basically that a standard Unix install isn't all THAT much more secure than an average Windows install. The author still implies that Unix is more secure. You could do like I do, though and create a separate user account for your media, and keep it read only for your basic web-browsing, etc. account. I really don't understand what the point of the article is other than Unix IS more secure than Windows, but not in the way you might think. If you install Windows, set up an account with minimal privileges to run regularly, only logging in as admin to change system settings. If you're running Unix, then...well, it's much more customizable and secure. Period.
Okokok, assuming I agree that the GPL hurts Linux (I don't)...what the GPL helps Linux to provide is an alternative where freedom is valued. Linux is not an entity that needs to be helped or hindered. People are entities that need and can use help. Linux is a huge help to me. Stuck on stupid? Linux on the desktop is far more powerful for me than windows ever was. So, don'tuse it if you aren't prepared to learn or don't have time to learn and you already know another OS, otherwise, I would recommend it.
Sorry, but the analogy doesn't work. It should be: it's easier to convince a KKK member to love blacks than it is to convince an atheist to love religous folk...which is plainly false. The issue around this type of opinion (Intelligent Design, etc.) is that Slashdot is a supposedly sci/tech website. This is a sci/tech-related article and to bring up a viewpoint which is religious (as intelligent design is..heed not those who tell you it's scientific) is, indeed, flamebait. I have my own beliefs that exist independently of science and if an article is posted where it could be considered warranted, I will feel no hesitation to enlighten you with them.;)
You still didn't undertstand, though.
To view all the workspaces either:
1. Press the windows key THEN move the mouse to the right side of the screen.
OR
2. Move your mouse to the top left of the screen THEN move your mouse to the right side of the screen.
Or: "Do not insert arm into washing machine while washer is in use." Um...ok...
That's like saying that men, in general, are stronger than women.
Short answer: Yes.

I think granddaddy meant that he'll be looking down from above, sitting at his seat of honor at the right hand of our Lord.
I'm sorry. ;)

Maybe you're one of those Linux-running commies/terrorists?
Have you checked?
j/k

Ummm...last time _I_ checked, that no longer is the case in the USA.

No, he survived.
Ewww. Just ewww.
The difference (supposedly) is that this guy actually MET with EA and discussed this feature under conditions that he now maintains were violated.
Whoa...thanks! Fasterfox is great.

Luckily, the original poster's opinion had nothing to do with science!
