People said Metal Gear Solid 2 was the most awaited game back in 2002.
People said Final Fantasy VII was the most awaited game back in 1997
People said Mario Bros. 3 was the most awaited game back in the year it came out.
Many video games have been "most" awaited, just every alternate year;).
" If PC gaming is going to survive it's going to have to do so in the well-lit family rooms"
I disagree. I have my comp right now connected to a monitor and a TV. I can't see a damn webpage when I send it to the TV (which is the reason why I have both, monitor and TV). I am not going to waste $3000+ just to play a few games and not be able to write documents and surf the web.
I just send the game to the TV and hook up a PSX->USB adaptor and vola, I have a console (I can put it at 800x600x16 and it still looks pretty good). Even though I like playing games on the TV, but I can't survive with only a TV. Therefore, I don't think the computer industry needs to be in the living room to survive.
Here are a few things to clear up about the performance of Firefox. I confirmed this on an old 200MHz computer running Windows ME.
1. Boot time IS faster than IE!
2. Browsing is smoother than IE, especially when opening a new window.
3. You can make it even faster by going to this tweak site
Microsoft sometimes offers its products for free, even if it didn't come with Windows. The perfect case is when IE came out back before 1997 where Microsoft forced Netscape to enter "the free market". Will Microsoft do the same thing with AntiVirus?
1. Make it free 2. Have everybody drop their current AntiVirus and move to Microsoft 3. Have Microsoft later on integrate it to the OS 4. Microsoft will have the monopoloy on AntiVirus industry
3. Customers are bombarded with ads, ads=Money 4. By making AIM free, people can start to conform to a standard (my girlfriend forced me on to AIM since she uses AOL) and they make a monopoly on all IM (like how Microsoft was able to make the standard off IE). Having full control of the IM industry can be very powerful. Power=money 5. When you sign up for AIM as a non-AOL user, you get bombarded with "Join AOL now" e-mails; at least for the first few months you use it. More customers= more money
My Bio teacher just about graded based on our results from the lab. So if the methods of the lab that she gave us were very flawed to begin with, we were screwed! At that point, many of my peers had to fudge their results in order to get a decent grade from her.
My chem teacher on the other hand didn't care about the accuracy of results, as long as you can explain the source of error. I learned a lot from chem because of this.
I have been telling people the same thing. Most of the time, "slow" computers are only slow because of the junk and spyware they install into their computer. Here is a perfect example:
My old laptop: OS: WinME CPU: Pentium II 200 Ram: 64MB Video Card: Some werid ATI Rage that they don't support anymore Time for it to boot and load a webpage: 2 min
Roomate's desktop: OS: WinXP CPU: Pentium IV 2.4 GHz Ram: 1 GB Video Card: Geforce FX 5600 Time for it to boot and load a webpage: 5 min
My roomate had a ton of spyware and crap on his computer so that explains why it takes so long for him to do anything on his computer.
Sorry for sounding stupid and off topic, but what is the difference between Firefox and Mozilla? And this "fix", do I just have to download the latest version of Mozilla (1.7 RC3) or I am not looking properly?
I worked for OfficeMax and you will be suprised how much people will spend for software. Customers will first yell at me for the high price (as if I could change it), but then they buy it anyway.
Because its the same god damn sound card I am using: SoundBlaster Live 5.1 (made by Dell). Mandrake 9.2 CRASHED on me whenever I tried to play any kind of sound. Creative didn't give me any drivers so I was stuck until I came acrooss a web site that sorta helped me out (only problem was that I forgot to install a compiler to the OS).
The thing is that most Dell sound cards are not supported by Linux. Why? I have no clue. But the problem is still quite real for people who doesn't even know what a compiler does.

Hey, the release date is on my birthday! Anybody want to give me a Doomed birthday?
Its funny to know that the Video Game industry is STILL bigger than the movie industry even after record breaking growth.

Reminds me of my High School experience.

Which reminds me of a penny arcade strip here . Gotta love Penny Arcade ;)

If you really want to get cheap prices, why don't you "outsource" your music to India. I heard bollywood music is getting pretty good ;-).
Why is the RIAA suing Brown and Princeton students? What if they end up suing a law student?

The sad thing is that I know a few senators who are actually trying to work on this...
I have seen many DVDs these days have different "cuts" within them. Hopefully, we might be given an "unedited" one along with the Special Edition.
