nope, i didn't get my first nintendo until the mid 80's. we got one shortly after our atari died... i can still remember it now.... my brothers and i were playing into the late hours of the day... then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there was nothing but snow on the tv. and no amount of wire jiggling and toggle toggling brought it back.
i think the difference is in not doing something because it's right vs. doing something because it's so small that 99% of people out there won't notice.
it's like mail-in rebates.... i've worked at a fortune 50 computer company, and the exact to the tenth of a penny cost of rebates have already been factored into every budget up through the supply chain.
they're so immutable as to never even be questioned.
when it's so popular and ubiquitous the originating company loses their trademark.

what an outrage!!! let's all sue nintendo for not having enough wii's are us to buy! i'm sure there's something in the lawbooks somewhere that expressly, implicitly, and absolutely prohibits the agony and heartbreak of seeing out little ones not getting what they want this christmas... just think about the poor little children!
i'd say damages of 1 free wii system each would be justice done at it's not lenient.
I somewhat agree. This law is designed to make the offender miserable for the rest of their lives... and while it does do exactly that very well, the law also punishes everyone else as well... by making a convicted felon's life miserable, you give them no other choice but to continue breaking the law.
And with this guy, I think he needs to be punished to the furthest extent of the law. Sure, he's saying he just wanted to protect his kid... but doing so by breaking another law? by committing premeditated murder?
What ever happened to just moving out of the trailer park?
because the zune store also allows you to go subscription as well:
http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunemarketplace/default.htm Download or subscription? Downloading songs and music videos a la carte from Zune Marketplace is simple using Microsoft® Points, which work across both Zune and Xbox LIVE® Marketplace. Or choose a Zune Pass subscription, which gives you access to unlimited music downloads from millions of available songs for a flat rate of $14.99 per month. (DRM-free MP3s, videos, and some songs are not available via Zune Pass.) Fill your device with new music whenever you want and keep those songs as long as you keep your Zune Pass up to date. A Zune Pass can be used on up to three PCs and three Zune devices, making it the perfect choice for families and music lovers.
I'll note that the book store just across from my store is doing great business. Unlike CDs, it's harder to copy books over The Internet.
ya, but that's because any dolt can walk to a library and check out a book FOR FREE. So why hasn't the availability of free books from public and college libraries not destroyed the bookstore business? I'd like to maybe venture to guess that you're not selling CD's to the people who are buying CD's.
Also, you can get books for way way cheaper than at a bookstore from places like half (you can get books in almost new condition for a couple bucks) or amazon... and yet with the availability of much cheaper books where you can buy them online and not even have to leave the house, the bookstore across the street is still doing great business. why?
if you happen to be in the san francisco area, walk into any of the record stores by UC Berkeley... notice how you have to sometimes wait in line to get in?
any business major or MBA worth his salt will tell you that a 12 year old business model isn't going to work forever, and you do realize that the 6 yr old kids of these families who used to come to your store + 12 years = 18 years old, right?
"Yeah, dude, that's really lete [sic], you'll get lots of respect."
you can [sic] something stated?
They have fought the War on Drugs with skill, so why not the War on Piracy?
right, that's why this world has been eradicated completely of all illegal drugs! If we use the War on Drugs as a shining example and metric, then you're in for a huge surprise with the War on Piracy.
haha... i can imagine it now... the colombian mp3 cartel... where do i sign?
This evening, my daughters asked me. "Why do the other kids laugh at us?"
you should teach your kids instead not to care about what other people think and that clothes don't make the man (or woman)...
I wanted to tell them the truth - it's because they wear old clothes and have cheap haircuts. I can't afford anything better for them right now.
hey, at least they have clothes and professionally cut hair. do you really think prada purses and day spa salon haircuts will make it better? your kid will just be teased about being stuck up or "the rich kid"
When the kids went to bed, my wife asked me, "Will we be able to keep the house, David?"
I just shook my head, and tried to hold back the tears. "I don't know, Jenny. I don't know."
if you were any sort of business man, and used sound financial logic and sound financial planning instead of parroting what cnn money tells you, then you probably won't be in this mess.
I am inspired by artists such as Metallica that have taken a stand against the powerful pirate lobby.
what pirate lobby? can you name them so i can send them nasty letters? i hate pirates too...
and last point... I am inspired by artists such as Metallica may be seen to contradict with I don't sell sick stuff like Marilyn Manson or cop-killer rap, and I'm proud to have one of the most extensive Christian rock sections that I know of.
ya! down with that satan music! but i like how they fight piracy... so... piracy >>>>> satan, so go metallica!
so if universal is already assuming that every mp3 device is used to pirate music, then why even allow their music to be made digital?
doesn't universal's statement that every one of these devices will be used to store unpaid material, alongside their participation with the zune program, and also collecting realy money per sale constitute indirectly accepting stealing music?
and if every one of these devices will be used to store unpaid for music, then why not have a policeman standing next to every checkstand arrecting everybody who purchases a zune?
and then you can go so far as saying that microsoft is now encouraging pirating music, given they're selling a device where everybody is going to store stolen material on it.
have everything and owe nothing for $10 a month? no, you owe $10 a month. and you really do own nothing... and you don't have anything either... you've got permission, in the form of a lease, to access Yahoo's music library.
It's akin to leasing your car, renting your house, renting movies, paying your cable bill, renting a cubical at work, renting clothes from clothing stores....
you'll pay for your entire life and if you miss one payment, even after 20 years of faithful payments, you'll have nothing.
how long does it take to recompile windows vista? and how many error messages does it spit out? in my experience in trying to customize parts of the linux kernal, it can only be developer hell.
Andrews said while record companies once offered artists about 30 cents for each song sold, now musicians are earning less than a dime
30 cents before compared to 10 cents now?!?? my god, how shallow can these people be??? Ya, you're getting only 10 cents, but you're getting it on a larger volume and a lower priced item. The percentages are all probably about the same. What's more? 30% of $9000 or 10% of $27000? Geez, let me think about that one.
Now, if their contracts were reworked so that they ALSO only get less than 10 cents per CD sold in a brick and morter store, then that's something to get upset about.
why is everyone so up in arms about labor conditions in china? why are we trying to force our value system on another culture?
if any of you guys have ever actually gone over to china, and talked to the factory workers, then you'll realize that their standard of living's very much high than it was before the factories.
they're buying gucci bags and other luxury items (though at a deep discount)....
Thank you for bringing the huge asteroid strike to our attention. Unfortunately, the existence of dinosaurs and all the "theories" implicated by such an event and timeline are still up in debate. Therefore we reserve the right to withhold comment on such an eventuality and your claims of responsibility for fear of offending anyone.
Also, as demonstrated by various asteroid and great movies starring Tim the Tool Man Taylor, we want to remind you that we will never give up and we will never surrender.
We have also, since the alleged dinosaur xenocide of August 3rd, 65,000,000 B.C., mastered the art of asteroid warfare. Do you remember the asteroids that hit Jupiter a few years ago? That was us.
good math... only a slight problem... that 59,000 accounts gone for this month, and if they all make a new account, then that's 59,000 new accounts. let's see...
(59,000 - 59,000) * $40.00 = $0
if anything, blizzard stands to lose money due to bans, if not all 59,000 people make new accounts.
ya, i was completely taken aback by that statement.
duh, google, ms, yahoo, etc are gonna pay less than we consumers are for bandwidth. it's call wholesale. everybody and their moms who shop at costco know that you can get things cheaper per unit if you buy a ton of it.
unfortunately, the consumer doesn't have the money to buy thousands of terrabytes of bandwidth per day, so we pay a little bit more so that we can get a few gigabytes per day.

or in movie banking fraud talk, microsoft has figured out how to accrue and aggregate all those fractions of a penny that usually get rounded off.

what exactly does the riaa wish to accomplish by suing students who will become future consumers?

if anything else, it's all this hype that's being generated about a possible iPod killer that'll make or break ms's Zune.
i mean, has any other MP3 player gotten this much press coverage as a direct competitor to the ipod?
