  1. It happens regularly. on PTO Requests Working Model of Warp Drive · · Score: 1

Just as one example I'm personally familiar with, a friend of mine invented and received a patent on a process to electrochemically deburr gun barrels after machining. Prior to this, said deburring was a lengthy, expensive mechanical process. Of course, he invited out representatives from the military to check out the process as part of having it certified for mil-spec work. Within the week his company was seized and shut down, and all of his equipment as well as the process was deemed classified. He was eventually compensated for the seized equipment, but never for the patent or the potential profits he would have made from it.

Those public funds are made up of MY tax dollars as well. And I'm sick and tired of individuals such as yourself who seem to have the idea that you're the only ones paying taxes, and therefore have the right to dictate how all public money should be spent.

To put it into a different perspective, parts of the bible are disgusting and perverse in the extreme in my view. Should I have the right to have the bible banned from public libraries because of those views? If you don't grant me that, then STFU about how offended you are.

Until the REAL conservatives in the Republican party rise up and give the reactionaries a swift boot (as opposed to boat) in the kiester, you can expect more of the same.
