The only metal that would be molten at the appropriate temperature would be Mercury. Putting Mercury in a CPU cooler would probably have a high risk of leakage, and killing ppl with mercury poisoning.
I didn't read anything in the gp post about lawyers. A normal person can spend the small amount ($20?) to file a Small Claims court complaint, and usually if you have a decent case, you can win.
"Back in my day, PDA meant Public display of affection!"
You know, I work at a school system as a security guard, and saw two kids basically humping each other in the lunchroom. I walk up to the Asst Principal and say "What's your policy on PDA?..." she said "Well, as long as they keep them under their clothes so you can't see it it's okay"...
There is no java for linux outside of x86.
THAT is a major problem with requiring java.
Not to be a troll, but, well, nobody (not meaning OOo devs, meaning *anybody*) cares much about non-x86 linux. I know OOo doesn't have an official build for PPC linux, and I doubt there ever will be.
Apparently nobody has cared to complain to the marketing people. Not that I want them to, lol.
Java is free, people. Java is probably already on most desktop computers. Sun gave us OOo, and still do 75% of the programming. Unless you're willing to reprogram the Base, HyperSQL, and the other components that require java in C++, then don't complain.
You're getting an office suite, which, while it admittedly isn't perfect, it's definately the best *value* out there.
This is a new *profile* version. Profile versions change things. Like default packages (one of the 2004 releases changed "x-window-system" to be xorg-x11 by default, for example).
I greatly disagree. With 2.0 coming out, we have an Access killer app, OOo Base, which should round out the suite. I think given all considerations -- open standards, feature completeness, cost -- that OOo comes out on top everytime.
The first half-day of the conference was an OpenOffice.org RegiCon (Regional conference), and yet there was no mention of them in the article? That's a HORRIBLE summary of the DLS, coming from someone who was there every second of the thing.
Until I see a game developed by an AAA game developing company rated at a 1 or a 0, their ratings hold no power in my book. If they think all high-budget games are "excellent" to the point of having 9.x ratings out of 10, then I certainly don't trust their opinion.
Just to clarify, Open Office(tm) is a trademark of some company somewhere in commercial land. The software most of you use is OpenOffice.org(tm). Please refer to it as such.

In all seriousness, doesn't it seem kinda bad to have a bunch of CRT-integrated imacs in a cluster? That'd take up a lot of space.
Linspire *does* have a "setup your computer" window come up. One of the buttons on it is to create a user account.
Not perfect, but not as egregious as it was in Linspire 4.5 either.
We can't afford lawyers

http://webstandards.org/act/acid2/reference.html == proper rendering
http://webstandards.org/act/acid2/test.html#top == test page
It's not fud...
did you look at the FF rendering and the IE rendering? Neither is perfect, but the IE rendering is absolutely horrid.
Please, realize, Adelphia sucks.
I don't mean it sucks a little, I mean it sucks a lot. In my area: no digital cable, no high speed internet, $40 for 40 channels.
Yeah, can you say DSL+satellite?
Meanwhile, 30 minutes away, Time Warner customers get tele+tv+internet for $150, including unlimited long distance.
No use in having competition if the competition sucks THIS BAD.

:-!
Talk about an alkward moment
Then why haven't we hard about it before it got this serious?
I mean, isn't there a way to make people aware of stuff like that? I don't want some script kiddie seeing my google searches for pr0n.
damn mods... /me burns more karma
Arch Linux is slackware gone wrong.
I absolutely HATE it. It has nothing that any distro doesn't already have better.
FP!
My first grammer nazi reply! I must finally be making it big on /. -- I think I'm going to frame this post.
:-p

Microsoft no longer has a JRE -- they were forced to stop it, because of the DOJ.
And most desktop computers, windows at least, have sun JRE, because 90% of gaming sites require it.
"A small but vocal minority.."

New profiles mean more than just installers.
He's not the only person to unfairly get a bad reference because you just left a place.
It's happened to me once.
Of course, I also had my *current* boss (at the time) give a ridiculously good reference, even though she knew it meant losing me.
I believe this will also include the first ever OpenOffice.org RegiCon Australia.

That's exactly what OpenOffice.org has been advocating for months, but nobody seems to listen.

They wanted $99.50 in real money, not a microwave.
Yeah, stupid rate limiter made your post come up before mine. I'm just waiting for the -1 Redundant now ....
