The problem is his kids! What about the social engineering risks. Someone could just buy his kids a six pack in exchange for their passwords.
The only logical solution is to get rid of his kids. Probably get rid of his wife too. I doubt she can really be trusted to have acess to the system.
A couple dozen audible books which I DID pay for are filling up my drive nicely. I have an extensive book on tape library and my music library.
40G != music theft.
If I buy one of these units - which I will, I'll be paying 9.99 a month for my car unit (which I will keep) and an additional 6.99 a month for this unit. A net increase of my montly fees of %70. If many existing customers do this, it will go a long way to XM's bottom line.
As a XM user I am drooling over the features offered by this device. I owend a first generation sony PNP and now an XM Roady. This device is light years ahead of the first generation.
Comparing this to a I-Pod or MP3 player confuses what the device is. It more correct to compare this to a tivo with cable.
I am guessing that there succuss will come out of the fact that a pilot can control this ship and it is not reliant on predetermined scenarios.
I always worry when aircraft have too many computers in them.
The pilot obviously averted disaster here.
If you are a hacker you probably already knew.
If you are a premium customer you know first then get to wait for Microsoft to release a patch.
If you arn't a premium coustomer you don't find out until a week before the patch is release.
No matter who you are the patch will contain more bugs than the orignial problem.
I was being funny but in reality I have gotten irritated with some persistant spammers and gone to the trouble to either call them and annoy their CSR with telemarketer games.
One so foolishly spammed me with a toll free number. Sooo with a modem and a simple unix script......
All right, All right
This is a little bit of flame bait. QA has been making me miserable today but........
You hit the nail on the head. Dev dosn't find their own bugs because we test for the spec and QA finds bugs specific to their expertise so how do you "completly" test software. How do you eradicate all the bugs?
This is why NASA uses "20 year old technology". It has taken that long to proove the integrity.
One thing I belive is that iteretive Code/Test/Fix cycle development dosn't really work well but it keeps programmers and QA analyst employed. We recognize that relationship and buy each other in appriciation of our respective shortcomings.:)
Remember when software kills don't blame the programmers! Blame QA. They find the stoopid bugs but miss the deadly ones.
I best the people who QAd the medical software wrote up 40 spelling errors.
I prefer the theatrical and rent the extended for novelty.
I think it is interesting how fans of Star Wars are mortified by the release of a Star Wars that was not theatrical (which I am as well) but waits with anticipation for more footage from Jackson.
I agree that the extra footage is good but there is an art form to making a GOOD movie that runs ~120-180 (or in LOTR a bit longer) minutes. If you can have unlimited content then you have left the realm of a movie.
If Microsoft outlook address books are a primary source of spam forwarding and viruses think of the oppertunities when the next version of outlook tracks anyone you ever work/commujnicate with.
It would probably take less than one week before a single e-mail could beforwared to the entire internet community.

Wow... Greek Festival in September, Geek Festival in october.

Analogous to a geek that can turn on a chick
http://polara.whirlpool.com/ I guess someone is buying this. So when you try to mod your oven - do something new and original.
This dosn't add up - slashdot users don't have girlfriends to break up with do they?

I am not going to buy that one either! I would just end up spending more money on the mithril edition.
Nope - It was Disney http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120917/plotsummary and it was a really good film - both animation and story

Don't forget to salute.
Where is the tactical nuke for spam? I want a tool that goes on the offensive against spammers.
If history is any indicator - this problem will be resolved for the consumer before anyone has a chance to miss survivor.
If Viacom Calls Dish's bluff this could drag on but I doubt it will do so in the public arena.
I bet thats what his girlfriends friends are saying to her :)

Sure save yourself - but what chance did the hundreds of trees have? They were all killed to produce that documentation!

I certainly hope it includes Digital Rights Managment. I shudder at the idea of anyone being able to download my life and represent it as their own!
