  1. Campus... on US Losing its Scientific Dominance · · Score: 4, Insightful

If you are on a university campus this morning...take a look around; it's no big suprise. Even more so, sit in on some general credit classes...or hell, *simple* college math courses. That's not to say those on higher levels aren't there, but damn, it just seems as though there is a huge influx of...just well, morons. Graduating too many highschoolers thinking they are headed for 13th grade. Sad really....we have so much potential to do better, but we can't get the fucking congress to fund education to the top of the list. We'll get our paybacks soon enough :(

P2P is not something that i really even use anymore. As for the legality of streamripping, which i think is a very, poorly chosen term, how can it be illegal to keep something that is coming into your home anyway? If i'm not re-broadcasting it, it should never be illegal.

Completely amazing that no one has *adequately* answered you on this question. i see responses of people whining that "you are not everyone" - yeah, not shit, genius. Or, "by god the package that i wanted to use needed mySQL" - nice. Way to *not* answer the question asked, fella. You didn't ask why people *chose* mySQL, rather what it does *better* than postgreSQL.

Once again, Slashdotters have missed the point entirely, correcly answered the question *not* asked and generally been useless except reminding you that you are not everyone...like, maybe you didn't already know that or something.

Seriously people, buck the fuck up and answer this question:

What is it (exactly) that mySQL does that is better, faster, or more stable than postgreSQL?

Leave your little app-requirements and need-it-for-legacy whinings out of it. Answer the question.

Our campus bandwidth (which is Internet2 enabled) would be shot with less than 20 people. Imagine what we'd need if all 15,000 needed 5-6MB/s all the time?

That is, of course, only one issue...i'm worried about what nberardi is worried about: at what point will legit suits against MS get tossed out because it looks/smells like another "let's hit MS's deep pockets" suit?
