I was waiting for this to be posted. I lerned this on betanews last night. I think that song was funny as hell. It will proly end up going down as one of them pop culture internet icons that enver die. Much like gostse.cx as somone already mentiond:)
It's not really fair to use money as a basis for this. Games tend to cost 3 to 5 times as much as a music CD so it's no shock guys are spending more money on games as games can make more money while still selling less units.
heh. Yea I guess those matrix games werw a pretty big hit. I forgot about em though. The matrix lends itself more to a game then the gadfater does though. This one should be a hard one to pull off tohugh. The gadfater movies have complex dramtic plots and sticking to that in a game will proly mean slow gameplay and if they ignore it it will piss off the godfater fans. I guess we will see what happens but I still say the ebst they can do is make a mafia game so they might as well drop the name and avoid the problems and restrictions. Name recognition is a big deal though:)
Really the whole idea of a godfater game is kinda dumb. The best they will be able to do is just make a mafia game so they could just name it something else and avoide the whole "games based on movies suck" negitive image it will get right from the start. Even if this game turnes out super great and is the best game of the year they are still going to have that wall to get over. The movie basis is going to knock the score down no mater what. I'm sure the first thought that crossed everyones mind even fans of the movies was "not another movie converted to a game":)
Kirk, Spock and McCoy never went to the academy at the same time and McCoy never went at all. He went to Starfleet Medical School.
Also I dont know why pocket books is asking him to write boks about it as starfleet academy books have been being done by pocket books for years. They are done as kids books and I read most of the TNG ones years ago and still have one about Worf.
This reminds me a hell of alot of the Starlight program that used to operate in the 1980's out of an abandoned Atlas F nuclear missle silo in the middle of the New Mexico desert. They used to shoot yer name into space in binary using laser light pulses for a fee. They (I wonder why?) have long sence been out of business.
I install all of my operating systems on avrage of once ever 1 - 3 months. All except for two that is:)
Windows XP Pro, Windows 98 SE, SuSE Linux, and Knoppix (sometime I install it and others I just run it from the CD)
The only 2 stable enough to not need to be messed with all the time? MS-DOS 6.22, and Windows For Workgroups 3.11. The 2 most stable (but now mostly useless) operating systems ever. Ssome would argue that MS-DOS 5.0 is better and DR-DOS is even better still but this is for a nostalgic games machine so it's MS-DOS all the way and I dont have 5.0:)
...no thanks MS. I dnt care how good the controller is I'm just not going to change the batterys all the time.
The way I would do this though (the same as I would do wireless mice and keyboards for a PC) is use a wire (say USB or whatever) and have it able to be unpluged from both the xbox (or PC) AND from the controller so I have the option to go wireless or use the wire. When it's on the wire the batterys recharge. There may already be some mice and KBs that do that but I havent seen them yet.
I dont know how they screwed up the power cord of all things (it's the most simple part of the xbox) but mines orderd and should be here in a few days.
Orderd as William H Gates like everything else I get from MS:)
Thats why this idea is only in my head and here on slashdot cuz the projectors are not released yet and there VERY expensive. SONY is making some projectors capable of this reselution that are expected out sometime this year for about $65k each:)
It's a dream is all but I am trying to see how/if this dream could even work if i could afford it. I'm planning on building it but I dont think that plane will ever be completed. I sure would be cool though wouldent it?:)
There is that point also yer right. But from what i have herd regarding the servers... wow...
My buddy Bob got cought in a few roll backs in a row cuz of there server problems. He was very pissed and it was very funny. His opinion on the game is it's good and he is a little bent on the high price but decided he would rather play the game then not play it so he paid but he also feels they ended the beta teast to early and that the game didnt feel complete and they did NOT have the servers ready at all.
I just think charging like this is no diffrent then if AOL had charged you for there software and then a monthly fee to use it. I would think blizzard could do better if they treated the game in the way most Linux distros work. You can buy a pre burned CD for a small fee or you can download the ISO free and burn it yerself. This combined with a free trial like they already have would put the game into ALOT of peoples hands that cant afford the $50 price in one lump sum but might be able to float the monthly fee.
I understand what you mean tohugh and can see the flaws in my opinion on the one side but I can see the possible binifits on the other as well.
Yes I have thought about the option of just going with PCI and yer right i'm not realy going to be playing Two heavy games at the same time or anything.
If it turns out not to be required then I will drop the two high end cards idea and just go with PCI but on the other hand i kinda would want to have it anyway incase my needs change. I can always upgrade it though:)
Before I do anything though I just need to see if what I cant can even be done like I want it to work. None of the computer shops around here have people that have any clue what I'm talking about really and I dont know a hell of alot about it myself:)
Yea my card makes me set both to the same screen size. If I want to send a movie to my HDTV at 1280x720 I must also run my PC at 1280x720. It's an early GF4 and I forgot what model it is but I know it was not the most high end avalible at the time.
I'll look into it more. If I can do it and do it reliable on a single card and without taking a hard hit on framerates if I end up doing something like playing a grahpics heavy game while watching a high res HDTV program or something then 1 card is alot cheaper and definitly alot better on system tempture.
I dont realy want to get so off topic talking about stuff other then SLI now but what I realy want is for this to be seamless. If I have my desktop spanned across both projectors (as one image)and then I open a movie and tell my media player I want to send it to projector 1 I want projector 2 to compensate and automaticly reset itself to 1920x1440 and only use 1/2 the screen. When I close it I want it to re set itself to 3840x1440 and take both projectors again.
Past dealings with multiple monitor setups have shown me that it can be a real pain in the ass to do it in a reliable and seamless way so thats what lead me to think 2 cards would be better then 1.
Yea that is a good point. You would have to remove it woudlent you?:)
Duel output wont realy help me though cuz I want each projector to be able to work totaly seporate from each other as well as together. Meaning I want to be able to have full controll over there reselutions depending on what I'm doing. One showing a HDTV program at 1920x1440 while the others maybie playing an SNES rom in ZSNES at 640x480.
My current AGP card has twin DVI outs but it does not grant me the ability to controll each one as well as I would like but yea had totaly forgot about there being a loop back cable kinda deal on SLI...
I guess having twin PCIe cards will still work but I would not be able to share the resources.
I havent yet bought in yet but I very much like the idea of being able to have 2 high end graphics cards working together sharing the load.
I'm planing on building a high end HTPC setup using two 4:3 projectors capable of 1920x1440 each in parralel for a spaned screen size of 2.667:1 or 3840x1440.
This setup will allow me to show a movie on one projector while playing a game or looking at a website on the other projector or using the combined size of both for watching movies/playing games.
I think PCIe and SLI will allow this to be done without taking a heavy hit on the system or being a pain in the ass to deal with like it is right now with using AGP and PCI in combo.
I hope somone beat the crap out of these people after the show...
You beat me to it. Damn me and my sleep.
Captain Trips?
Yea they did. But I think they did it just lame enough to be funny as hell :)

This year sucked BAD! The game sucked, the comercials sucked, the half-time show sucked... and I blame it all on her wrinkled old tit.
How the hell did "Can India Becmome A Knowledge Superpower" turn into "Hippies Vs. Red Necks"?
Windows XP Pro, Windows 98 SE, SuSE Linux, and Knoppix (sometime I install it and others I just run it from the CD)

So can they make nukes? All depends on what part of the world you live in and what side of the coin you picked.
Or is this question based on the stereotypical version of the word terrorist?
b) Acapulco Gold
c) Purple Haze
d) Maui Wowie

Cuz that was a funny way of doing it I'll let it slide :)
