When you earn yourself a bad reputation it takes a long time to rid yourself of it.
It took IBM around 10 years. MS earned thier reputation in the past and some would argue are still earning it today (they still finance much FUD). Allthougth in some ways they appear to be making some good moves in the right direction it is a fact of life that it will be uphill.
Industrial capitalism was alive and healthy in the north of England at the time of the industrial revolution.
Leeds, Bradford and Manchester where hotbeds of stockholders buying into new Mill ventures, railways, whatever. The canal and rail building in the UK was akin to the dot com boom.
Of course capitalist like insurance (as opposed to socialist state protection), was born in London with the Lloyds exchange.
But non industrial capitalism (trading) goes back much further. Just look at renaisance Venice or the Phonecians in the Roman era. Investors would buy a share in a shipping expedition.
Can't say much about corporate Canada, but as someone who switched countries when I was 25 I can say there is a lot to be said for going somewhere with a new language and culture. French orientated areas of Canada offer great opportunities for this.
First few weeks are difficult, but people have a lot of patience if you are seriously interested in learning thier language.
In a few years you will find that you have not only become bi-ligual, but bi-cultural, you will be able to switch between different ways of thinking, frankly it really broadens then mind.
Then, who knows, next stop Europe! If nothing else it is a great thing on your CV!
About a year ago I read some figures (in an EU auto magazine) for a hybrid golf prototype developed by a private firm. They split the figures so you could work out what you would expect to get on your itinarys.
Upshot was that my daily trip to work consumed more than I would expect from a MPI diesel utility, which would also have more performance.

The fact that CISCO owns a patent does not mean that you have to pay a license. CISCO may, for example, make a statement allowing free, unlimited and non revocable rights to use thier technology.
By owning the patent they prevent anyone else from doing so.
The fact that CISCO publicy announced thier patent issues before standards adoption allready bodes well, patent leeches generally keep quiet until there is a pool of people to sue available.
My local bar does offer a very wide range of coffee beans, and they slip a little dark chocolatte onto the side of the cup. Perhaps I will try some of the lighter beans.

When they do the device periodically sends an SMS like message giving the current coords read from the GPS. Likewise such devices can be used to send an SOS that includes the exact coords.
Putting it in the application and using a generic db interface should make it portable, but in practice it never does because there are inevitably lots of little quirks.
Using a db's procedural language is bound not to be compatible, but is far easier to port, IMHO, than get the bugs out of an application.

Unfortunately there was not much internet in those days and no HTML, but I think that is a good timespan to look at in your research.
Look up Forth in MIT's library archives, it is more likely to throw up stuff than Google.
