    Aren't republicans against raising taxes?

Those Regean/McGovern Republicans are dead. It's the neo-cons running the show. You don't hear about liberals being tax and spend anymore. Instead of taxing for social programs the Republicans are taxing for pork projects for rich guys or as the Republican rhetoric calls them "job producers". Turns out all the jobs they are producing are in India.

I have had to make changes to UNIX shell scripts and PERL code before. Most of the undocumented cryptic scripts were small enough to figure out what I needed to change.

LOTR fans don't deserve to get milked but if someone one wants to pay the money it doesn't bother me.

Actually the Grand Theft Auto Series for PS2 out sold Halo individualy and as a series. Halo isn't a system exclusive as it is on the PC too as you yourself mentioned.

I would love a football game with Hall of Fame players but I don't see it happening. They would have to reach and individual agreement with every player. For current NFL players they just need one agreement from the NFLPA. Why bother with the XFL? I actually watched the games and I still don't remember anybody but Rod Smart (He Hate Me).

A non-NFL licenced game would be like generic Cherrios in a plastic bag. Sure it may taste the same but people will still pay for the fancy box thinking it really tastes better.

Not sure if Sony will make money on Gran Turismo. Sony spent so much mondy developing a product that, if like the orignal, is really dated. Burnout 3 and others offer a faster arcade gamplay that mainstream gamers really want to play. People often refer Gran Turismo as a simulation game. I guess they say that defend why it is really boring. The way you bounce off walls and other cars is almost silly. I think Gran Turismo will have moderate sales by hard-core fans but will still not make a profit even with two versions.

PeopleSoft was beat into submission by Oracle. Oracle spread FUD for a year and half until PeopleSoft had no choice but to take what they could get and sell to Oracle. It is kind of scary the tatics used by Oracle. Any company big enough can just freeze the market until the smaller company takes the cash for it's customer base. In the end that's all Oracle wants is the customers of PeopleSoft. It can't build a better application but it won't use PeopleSoft's technology, it will just create a dubious "conversion tool" and say to PeopleSoft customers "it is cheaper to migrate to Oracle applications". In reality it might be cheaper to defect to SAP or one of the minor players, but corporations never see it that way.

I always lie to clients and say "I don't know how to do Crystal Reports" despite doing many more than I would like to remember.
