    Nah, just choke it down and use a filtering proxy. You've then got a lot of spare pipe for 'research' or reading Slashdot. Gotta go, the boss is back.

    RDP and VNC don't do a half meg image either. Not as good on dialup, but better than sucking the files down to the local box.

    If you're backing up trivial amounts of data, just use a USB stick. It's reusable. If you're backing up real data, you need something bigger. We use 3 Ultrium 3s for a full backup and we are a small operation.

    Better than ground clearance, how well do batteries do in extreme cold? I remember batteries dying fast in the cold. Could be wrong.

    The big reason is back-end systems. A lot of people spent a lot of money on big apps written when IE6 was the only game around. IE7/8 only exist to compete with the alternate browsers that came out later. We've only recently been cleared to use IE7 to access our financial / HR systems. Maybe we'll be allowed to use IE8 in a few years.

    The NBN isn't implemented yet either and we're betting that it won't get much further. A few roll-outs in the South-East corner and not much more. Hopefully the filter is as successful. Oh joy, Lateline is showing Conroy attacking Google. The man makes Alston look like a genius.

    No, prostitution is legal in some Australian states, but not others. Here it's illegal, but the police /government tolerate it if certain rules are followed. Try legalising it and you'll be swarmed by the interest groups.
