  1. voip in india on VOIP to be Made Illegal in India · · Score: 1

As far as i know voip is legal in india until you touch the POTS network in India. For calls going outside of india using VOIP is legal because they are not using POTS to deliver the calls. Where as calls placed using VOIP to india have to pay tax to use POTS. Otherwise it is illegal.

Anyone who knows more about this care to shed some light?

Someone has ported GPS over to 770 and now combined with a bluetooth GPS receiver it acts as a gps decive showing maps etc. There are plans for VOIP support soon. Combine this with FON router and you are on online at many places and make free calls, check email etc. I was thinking on the lines of hacking this into a car. There is already GPS available, so why not hook it up with car stereo and double it as an mp3 player. And if you have a FON account every time you drive by a FON location it downloads your email.. missed calls etc. This can be pretty interesting. Any thoughts ?

I guess it would make more sense if we play less because we are sharing our bandwidth thereby help bring down the distrubution cost.

One more way is the create your own internet television using platforms like http://www.getdemocracy.com/ where the user doesnt have to pay anything to view and one could make money based on advertisements. The cost of distrubtion woulld be low because the users are sharing their bandwidth.

  21. Better how? on Yahoo! Mail Superior to Gmail ? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Does yahoo allow me to search through emails? Does it have text only ads for the free version?

You can right-click on various items to see short menus of useful tasks, like "add sender to address book."

Doesn't gmail automatically add every sender to the history? when you compose a new message you can just start typing the address and it will show you the email address. Isn't that easier than manually having to add?

And there's no preview pane, only a feature that shows a snippet of the content of an email.

Showing the snippet IS preview! How much more do you want to see ?
It forces you to view all of your email in groups of related messages called "conversations," instead of viewing them individually as they arrive.

Tell me why would i NOT want to see the messages which are part of the conversation?

But i have to say tabs in messages by yahoo looks cool!
