the level of piracy with custom dvd drive firmware on the 360 is already at a high with people not caring about online play or gamerscores. basically the same as piracy on the PC (by people not caring about online gameplay there either).
meanwhile sony maintains a "open platform" even running its own linux distro, serving the basic needs of homebrew on a Cell, expandable with regular aftermarket stuff....
all that with maintaining security to hardware, maybe learning lessons from the PSP hacks?
because of this i think the interest in hacking the ps3 is considerably smaller that doing the 360
it's not that i don't earn enough to afford those games.
some games just don't have a high enough fun-$$$-ratio if bought at full retail price.
and certainly not at what retailers charge for games in europe.
average xbox or ps3 pricing is 60euro-70euro for a new game. budget titles are 30euro
that would be 75-87$ for a new game and 40$ for a budget title.
only very few titles have the right to claim that kind of money.
one of the was GTA4.
but most games would be utterly dissappointing and i would ask myself why i paid that sum for a game that managed entertain me for 2 hours at most.
... its not like you always made mainstream appealing consoles that would entertain all family members up to granpa and granma... anyone with a screen bigger than 40" loves his 360 or ps3 for its graphics and the fun games... i like 3rd person action, i like 1st person action, i like sports games, i like rpgs... hell and how i dislike minigames... just because someone "reinvents" how controllers work in a fun way... imho shotlived party-gimmick-kind-of-fun... (yeah we had that virtual stuff already in the 90s with gloves you know)... doesnt mean he will break how technological evolution works... thats just not the way it works... in fact... maxing out capabilities in a few years on 360 and ps3 will produce photo realistic games... and they might just add a controller that uses real 3d positioning and not just cheap accellerometers who knows... and customers might just ask themselves... hell i spent 250 bucks on that crap lastgen machine and have to spend another 250 for another crap machine when wii is released while current-next-gen would have been 400 (well probably forget about the crazy 600bucks sony thingie;) ) and still competing or most probably beating wii (since nintendo does not loose money on hardware and sells cheap crap that cant even run a decent AI in shooters or strategy games because its lacking the processing power)...... and for all you wii lovers out there... i have a wii, 360, nes, snes, n64, xbox, ps2, ps1, dc, genesis etc etc etc... by checking my consoles im a friggin nintendo fanboy

movies in poland are normally dubbed with ONE guy translating all the roles in the movie.
i already hate the german dubbing. not lipsync. you may even see a totally different movie with german dubbing and their creative dubbing... etc etc... but at least its professional and every actor gets its own german dubbing-actor.
but the most horrible thing is an age 40-50 guy translating the movie by himself.

the wii is out for 8 Months + and so far no notable releases... this must be the worst nintendo console launch ever - in terms of game releases. wheres the mario equivalent, wheres pilotwings, wheres fzero. thats the stuff that made the snes/n64 survive the first months of release dryness. but nintendo totally failed to deliver those games on launch or post launch. zelda with the tacked on wiimote control scheme does not last 12 months.

frankly i doubt the wii will make it into 2009.
the ps2 camera, guitar hero and singstar are smash hits with the added controllers. i really dont see a problem why MS or Sony should not rip off the wiimote. people will buy it. 3rd party can safeley develop for 3 systems and the pioneer will become the hermit and die of Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome.
im sorry but nintendo should have gone for some tech innovation along with the controller
well i dont see the point in playing last-gen-video on next-gen-systems. divx is supported by any sub 50$ dvd player. most people have a dvd player anyway and using the 360 is generally a "noisy" idea.
if you want a multimedia-jack-of-all-trades - build it - or wait till 360 or ps3 get hacked decently and run homebrew... or maybe someone (ms or sony) decides to offically release a usb-dongle-thingy or so to enable multimedia-overkill.
how about you just go back to your favourtite fanboi site of choice. you are just ridiculous. i own pretty much every major console and i am playing fun games on all of em. but peewee is just a rip off. stuff they are doing with the wii could have been done exactly the same with the cube... include a friggin gimmick controller... and provide some games to play with it. all the fun you need. a minor upgrade cpu and 1.5x gc gpu... great cant believe the amount of development that went into that... i feel sorry for spending money on a piece of hardware that got two or three good games in FIVE friggin MONTHS. hell even n64 (at least in europe) had a better launch title lineup. after 5 Months n64 had roughly 20 games out... and most of them being AAA titles made it rather hard to choose. there was turok, wave race, pilot wings, super mario, blast corps, starfox, shadows of the empire yadda yadda yadda... in the first year there were 40 releases for the n64... and see how fast that died... i start to wonder how fast our beloved gimmick will go down to memory lane. wii maybe best selling right now and it might have high acceptance with non-gamers. but those people normally think alot more before spending money. so whats in there for 3rd party?
3rd party development needs to fully focus on wii development to get it right. cheap conversions or doing the gameboy advance trick with old 16bit games... arcade or maybe old xbox1/ps2 conversions for wii wont help in reaching the masses that play for the fun with the "gimmick" thats somethin they can only do with wii exclusives. and as of now there have been 2 tops 3 fun wii exclusives. zelda is not one of them as it is a gc game with stupid tagged on wiimote controls. that leaves wario ware, wii sports and "choose your favourite other title"....

germany annually spends 161,9 Mio. Euro on this agency to grab 7,123 Billion Euro from People to finance the extensive government owned tv and radio programs with about 100 tv channels and probably more radio channels...
thats about 400 $ per head for TV/Radio without any pay tv extras (no movies , less sports, no porn) with mostly documentaries , news and cheap german produced tv shows with a target audience above 50 years.

during my miltary service i earned several marksman certificates (german army and us army) and was a pretty good shot with everything from "ouch-my-shoulder-recoil"-Heckler&Koch-G3 to "lightweight-sounds-like-a-paintbal-gun"-m16. right before that my hands were aching from playing Q2, Q1 and others, wasn't exactly the time of todays tactical shooters. but i had the chance to verify and prove that during my year playing counterstrike (beta.6 or.7 methinks) without much training i was a pretty good shot with my clan... ( it was annoying to train more on this.... and by that time CS became very famous with cheating... )
so in my case i can only say twitch in FPS has given me some adavantage with RL firearms.
