It has become to my attention all these security-theatre gadgets are being introduced in very short terms. Even surveillance is a weapon, it's either being used for the good or the bad.
I could stretch this very far, there is no real definition of good or evil; only good and bad actions which cause good and bad consequences.
It's happening everywhere, politicians smell it's possible and jump up the wagon, with bad consequences for the people in long term. If more people are not going to "get it" they are being bullied around and complain against this behavior, there will be soon no "people" anymore but "walking meat with a stamp". It's favoring those who are pushing the most with money for laws to be in the best conditions leaving the smaller/individual people in the blank.
I think they got a word for that and we are all forced to be living towards those rules and none others... crazy! And that by the governments which are (partially) selected by the people.. for the people! I'd almost call such behavior Shenanigans! And don't even think I'm complaining about the States, I'm European and self-employed where laws are and proposals are being proposed in high-speeds towards the new sub-religion called "Terrorism".
And that's not even everything, it's just a tip of the iceberg.
Do you say "I have 3 kids" or "3 kids are living with me" ?
I think, in current standards, "I have 3 kids" would sound better. Does that sound I own 3 kids or I got 3 kids from birth ? "My cat" is not "My cat" because he is owned by me, nope, it's because he is guarded by me his entire life; he's my roommate and compagnion...
So.. what's so politically incorrect about... This is my cat? I'm his best friend too! He's not just "a cat"..
Considering there's a German 'smoker's only' and 'nudists only' airline, it's not much of a stretch to imagine that a business only airline could work. Let's me remind about a Dutch joke about SABENA Airlines:
Sex (sex) Aan (on) Boord (board) En (and) Niks (nothing) Anders (else)
The therapy is PEP: Post Exposure Prevention; which is a duo- or triple therapy of a month. Heavy stuff too, comparable with chemo therapy.
Even more dangerous is that people tend to believe more in numbers which are often recalled in many cases. I wonder if this is comparable with numerology. Why believe so strongly in a number? Because of the comfort around false safety ?
Oral sex used to be "safe", the scientific community backed down from that years ago. Safety campaigns used to promote oral sex as safe when done without condoms; 4 years later lots of these safety flyers changed drastically just because of that change of facts. It's this kind of loose behavior by the scientific community that people get lax and rather lay off the safety rules.
I've read about people having sex with eachother for years, one is positive while the other is/was still negative. There are so many parameters not calculated in heavy risk zones; like high density city's, other STD's which can easen up the infection process, resistance factor (fatigue, drugs) and lots more still unknown to science..
Moral of the story is: don't put your life continuesly in other hands, they can be wrong just like anyone else; one mistake and you are hooked up for life. It makes me so sad to see so many young people wasting their lives.. I could never live with the fact my future kid wouldn't have any choice to be sick already since when born; maybe some younger people might need to think more about that..
With Sandra Bullock, who looses her ID automagically because she's on to something...... might makes one think how such events might happen in real life?
Why? Because that one in the 500 odds could be happening sooner than ever. It's not even determined you'd be infected the 500th date.
People base their lives too much based on numbers pulled out of their *ss. The same with statistics, the truth is, you'll have to be ONCE at the wrong place, wrong time and with the wrong girl or guy and you are infected. Screw the 1:500(0) ratio, we're talking human lives here. I've got friends who catched HIV by doing A LOT less than that. Where are you now with those statistics? If everything happens "according the book" statistics can be used to improve life, although we're talking about something which isn't even following any book at all!
Statistics might be good in some cases to determine factors, but in this, with people lives at stake, I find these statistics crazy, dumb, ignorant and hypocritical. You go screw 5000 people, although do keep in mind by screwing the third one without condom you could already be sentenced life-long HIV.
I'd say, f*ck statistics and start to act responsible towards eachother. They give false hope... Being ignorant doesn't mean it has to endanger the rest of the society.
heck, some people even believe they won't catch HIV because they believe in a superiour being.. crazy world...
There are 3 kinds of people, people that can count and people that can't...
moral of this post: there are people that just don't know better how hard you try, or worse, they don't learn from their mistakes; wasn't there a slashdot post about that before even?
This will be very cheap research, they already had their extensive results of crashing stuff upon the moon.....so they'll hardly have to change any parameters for this mission!
I'm a musician part-time myself, invested in my computerless studio with many reasons (mainly because a computer cannot give me the freedom I got) and have been working for over 15 years long in the music industry. I've started with 12" records and am now trying to get something back from my investment by producing and live events.
I had to work and fight hard to get this maintained, to keep my collection fresh, since music is NOT one of the cheapest products around. The filtering process by itself to only keep the best of the best and ignoring the rest is even a job by itself since there is a lot of crap out there for the same/a higher price against the better creations. I've never had anyone paying for my equipment or records; it's all coming from my own sweat.. no spoiling and most of these complex machinery exists with a good reason.
Next to that I am having my college degree which I am not even practicing. So, I wonder, what's your point of hostility? It doesn't mean because people like to save their creativity to CD we are all sleeping with the RIAA... I know I'm not talking about everyone, since I got only my own experiences to talk about; although; I'd suggest you to do the same.
I don't even have to reply with the "majority form" for that. Since "us" is so broad defined it has no leg to stand on. The RIAA may be dying, music will live on; it's a form of communication, it would be the same to say English is dying. No way! Music is an art; just like there will be painters and writers there will be musicians ready for the cause of delicate artistism.
(ps: I wouldn't give a shit less if the commercial top-50 music would die off, since this is an artificial created beast from the recording industry without real grounds for art, only financial gain, which makes us with artistic intend look bad!)
I've been playing with computers since about 16 years ago. I don't want to make it too long;)
Commodore 64 was pretty basic; too basic for me; never even loved the basic stuff;)
8086, 8088, 286, 386, 386DX, 486 time, they were sure slow, but booted up as fast as current systems;
I can still imagine my Amstrad PC1512, which was a block with 5 1/4" disks;
DOS used to be nice to play with;
The Amstrad didn't survive my exploration towards well.. static electricity:) Lesson learned;
Windows 2.11, if you run it now, you'll probably run away screaming like a little girl;
My BBS and most other programs were running on OS/2, Windows was tucked away in the corner;
Maintained and programmed for our demo group (the scene) for years;
Got in touch with the early Linux versions, truely remarkable was that it was NOT easy to configure;
Did get Linux working correctly with my hardware and got it linked to my BBS, it opened many perspectives;
It was a pain in the *** to get my ATI graphics card working in 32bit mode; have been searching a full week before I could take it out of 8bit mode; not only it was a pain, it was ssssllllloooowwwwww too;
OS/2 used to be superiour to Windows 3.0 and 3.11 (Windows for Workgroups); It just did it's multitasking like it should be multitasking. Moved my BBS immediately from DOS to OS/2; Not only it was superiour, it even had Windows For Workgroups built in!
OS/2 went from 2.11 to 3.0 and died out after; all that efford for such result in the OS/2 usergroup but it sure was fun!
Linux got a lot easier to use, a lot more support, easier to download too! Tested a few desktop managers, none really catched my eyes except MetroX at that time; The rest was still a lot of changes in configuration files, while such experience should be seamless without going from point-n-click to shells all the time a change has to occur;
Windows 95 came out, I backed off programming for that evil system; I used to program in Turbo Pascal, C++ and ASM;
Delphi came out, still I was not touched by it;
Used Linux, Windows 95/98/XP together for a long time, Linux is perfect for servers, Windows for administrative stuff, SecureCRT, some network tools and WSFTP give me what I need;
Windows 98, ME were nice "upgrades" but that's about it, they were not major. Windows 98SE is still one of the better versions in my opinion next to Windows XP SP2;
Got in touch with os X with one of my best friends, it amazed me what it could do about 5 versions before I bought my Powerbook G4;
Am currently using Linux and Freebsd on the company servers, still, no graphical interface, my keyboard is my ally;
I was never a VI fanatic, PICO has been serving me till now, maybe it's time for a new editor for my Perl and Bash programming, I'll have to put some time in it finding a lightweight syntax hi-lighting editor with Perl support for Linux;
As you see, I moved also from Turbo Pascal and C++ to Perl, don't ask me why, I just fell in love with the language years ago;
os X is a breeze to use, the shell is there, it just works, rarely crashes, has enough support, using the mouse doesn't cause brain damage because of psychadelic grassy fields; it is just functional;
Now I am using Linux, FreeBSD, CentOS, OS/X and Windows XP together and must say os X is for sure the desktop leader in my house.
The only difficult thing in my house is Windows and Perl...
User experiences are different; I don't follow the general crowd by using and swearing with windows while not knowing how to turn the damn thing on. Currently I am seeing a lot of progress from MacOS 9 to os X, I've got the latest Macbook PRO now and it's still the same, Change the d
Then, use other keywords to loose your fear!
I'd say the users are the weakness! PEBKAC!
I get handy e-mails all the time with such sites! I can forward you a few ;)
