Excellent post. I commend you on your concern for your kid as well.

  2. Re:You learn through mistakes on Teen Creates Device to Track Speeding · · Score: 1

It must be a very slippery slope to go from "knowing where your kids are" to "coddling them" into misfits.

I think this poster had a point... it's good to know where your kids are, and to be interested and concerned in their lives. That proves to make better children than just ignoring them and/or letting them do whatever their hearts desire.

I think this device is a great idea... after all, unless the kid is paying for his or her own car/insurance/gas, then the parents have every right to know what the kid is doing with their (the parents') money.

Just an FYI, you don't need others' friend codes to play online. You can play random people.

  7. Re:What's wrong with the CD? on Warner to Sell Music on DVD · · Score: 1

Exactly my point... most CDs are just over half the capacity of the CD, so one argument I saw stating that the DVD format will hold more is a moot point!

    Thanks for the support info!

  8. Re:Physical Size ... More Songs! on Warner to Sell Music on DVD · · Score: 1

    12 songs * 4 minutes = 48 minutes.

The only CDs I purchase that actually reach the limit of a CD's capacity are live CDs. I don't think artists (or the RIAA) will take advantage of the size here.

  9. What's wrong with the CD? on Warner to Sell Music on DVD · · Score: 1

Oh yeah, it doesn't have DRM...

Seriously, minus the limited storage capacity (although for audio, 74 minutes seems to be TOO much for most artists these days), what's wrong with the CD? The quality is great, I can rip it to my PC (uh oh, there's a problem), and it's inexpensive (again, uh oh).

This new format will probably be $20 or more, and that's just not gonna fly. Not to mention, I need to upgrade my car stereo.

The elitism here sometimes makes me sick to my stomach. Jessica Simpson isn't my cup of tea, but to some it is... it's DRM-less music nonetheless.

The real story here is that this is a well known artist and the music is sold without any restriction.

With Netflix you just say "add this to my queue" and you choose which order they come in... I have several at the bottom of my list that I may move up to the next one sent... depending on my mood. If you don't put anything in your queue, you don't get anything.

As far as "park", I think that is akin to Netflix's "Not Interested" rating. The users browse through recommendations and if they see something they don't like they can rate it "Hated it", "Didn't Like It", etc... or just say "not interested".
