I have to ask, is that in binary?:)
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if IE8 doesn't pass. But, I would be surprised if IE8 explicitly looks for the Acid page when rendering.
No, I don't think so. At least the name does not look familiar. I did a web search for it and the game does look similar. All I can remember was that there was one room where there were (blue?) vertical "spikes". I either had to jump from one to the other or jump over. I keep thinking "pharaoh" or "tomb" was in the title. But, that was twenty years ago.
But yeah, I would end up having to go eat dinner. Invariable, it would finish loading halfway through dinner. My parents would hear the music and make me shut it off, forcing me to wait even longer.
The C-64 was my first computer, so I did not notice any issues with the keyboard. It is a pain, however, when I use a C-64 emulator with a modern keyboard. I aways have problems typing LOAD "*", 8, 1 as the quote mark is in a difference place.
I hear you on the tape deck though. There was one game that I had that I really enjoyed. You had to work your way from room to room. It was half puzzle, half arcade. Unfortunately, I can no longer remember the name (any help out there?). Anyway, the game had at least a 1/2 hour load time, if it loaded the first time. Sometimes I would spend hours getting it to run. Man, those were the days.
you would never use a car without knowing how to drive
I don't know. Have you seen some of the drivers on the road?
But yes, I agree. You should not operate a vehicle without knowing how to use it. And, just because you own a sports car, does not make you a professional drive.
I would like to see computer users with more knowledge and more security awareness. However, it is easy to throw some HTML/ASP/whatever on to a website. How can we let novice users create "secure" sites without banning them the web?
I agree! Working in a cube is bad enough, but a bubble?
Playing games though, would be cool. I remember when Quake III came out (I think it was Quake). It had support for 3 monitors. I always wanted to play some of the games with a wider field of view. I just wonder how visible it is from outside.
What if am playing a FPS and losing. Unless Windows can heal my character, I don't necessarily want message boxes popping up with "helpful" suggestions.
What if I am frustrated, but not necessarily with my computer? For example, if I am having issues at work, I don't really want my computer to interfere and possibly aggravate the situation.
Assume that I am trying to do a Windows task for the first time. How will Windows really know what I am trying to do?
4. Don't get cute. Use standard controls that people recognize. In addition to using standard controls, have a consistant look. The application/webpage/whatever should be at least consistant with itself.
I agree. When I used to run a BBS (The Silver Jaguar), I had the computers in my bedroom. I got so used to the computer fans, that I would have difficulties falling asleep when I went on my monthly camping trips. Also, if I did not hear the predictable drive access rhythms at midnight (during maintenance) I would wake up.
This is why I don't decorate at home. My painting ability is nil. I would probably start with a white room. But, I would use increasingly darker colors to fix my mistakes. The cave-like effect would be accidental.
I think that this would be overkill for a home theater; I cannot see this as a big selling point if the house ever goes on the market. Now, if I coulde get my cubicle to look like that....
You're not the only one. I don't get Dance Dance Revolution either. Yes, these people would be more impressive (to me anyway) if they actually learned how to play the guitar. Of course, while I'm condeming GH3 and DDR, I'm playing other video games. So, I guess as long as you're doing something that you enjoy....
According to the letter, the student was told twice to stop using Firefox. So yeah, it was probably because the student was disobeying. But, I would bet that the student did not have permission and that the teacher was unaware of Firefox.
Near where I live, there is a "roundabout." At least, that is what it is called. I guess technically it is a traffic signal. It is definitely important to know the difference. I was in the circle and I foolishly assumed that I had the right-of-way.
I used to live an hour north of San Francisco. When I would drive through San Fran, some drivers would beep at me because I did not enter the intersection and/or turn left on a red traffic light.
I agree that we probably spend too much money preventing terrorist acts. Maybe if we work on our relations with "terrorists", we will lessen the threat.
I have to ask, is that in binary? :)

Will this upgrade also include a (forced) installation of Silverlight?

I would use the floating data centers to build an offshore casino with blackjack and hookers.
Actually, forget the casino and the hookers.
Could someone copyright spam so that could be filtered at the network level please?

If the beer can be brewed within 30 minutes (including commerical breaks), sign me up for a few.

Hmm. I received a different result when I did my search.
So, no BSOD? http://www.flickr.com/photos/lhl/1418448/

When I first read the title, I thought that they built a new laptop power system.

Actually, I read "Warm-Hot" as "Wal-Mart". I know they are expanding outside the US. I didn't know they were going intergalactic.
Yeah, the time is either 25 or 6 to 4.

Well don't let me stop you. :)
