Kind of reminds me of that story some cops told of when they used a polygraph-lie detector on a suspect.
The main problem is they didn't have one, so they took a photocopier and put a piece of paper with the word "LIE" on it in big bold letters in the scan plate.
Then they brought in the suspect, told him it was a lie detector, and started questioning him.
Everytime they thought he was lying, they hit the copy button.
Even though this was a few years back, I still find it hard to believe the suspect was that stupid.
The big difference between EVE and Privateer is that you can actually fly your ship dynamically in Privateer. In Eve you can maneuver but it's very much like a capital ship battle, point and click and wait. Excepting a few classes (like the interceptor) there's almost no need to try and manually fly your ship. Privateer featured real dogfighting and the market based economy which is something I'd love to see in a new game (or even MMO).
As a non Linux guy, I've been interested in installing Linux several times but the community has turned me off. If you go on a forum or something similar and suggest a feature you're often told that you're doing it wrong. That's probably true, but it's poor attitude for growing a client base.
Me: I'd like mirrors on my car to assist in backing up.
Linux community: The best way to back up is to turn around and look out your rear window.
While technically correct, how many people back up using their mirrors?
To clarify they did not have ABS anytime recently. ABS and traction control were both invented in part by F1 teams and trickled down into production cards, but ABS has been banned for decades. Traction control was only banned last year.
F1 cars did have a sensor that, essentially, spun the engine up when it sensed a tire lock up, this kept the rear tires from locking up which is why until this year you often saw cars with front tires locked and the rear tires spinning or barely smoking.
Before these things were baned in F1 racing (traction control and ASB type brakes, but I think they are allowed anti skid braking now) all the cars had them. So a F1 driver is quicker around a race track pulling 3g in turns and 4g braking and at the very least is safer. But *you* are better off without them?
F1 cars did not have ABS, and still don't. The traction control system on an F1 car does not resemble the kind on almost any production car today. That's like arguing it would be safer if everyone wore hats because all NFL players do.
Another more radical solution involves separating electrical devices by their "importance." If there isn't enough power, the Air-Con is the first thing to cut out
It's very clear you don't live in South Florida, air-con is the most important thing:)
I note the type of people calling for European cars to be introduced over here are always about 5'6. I'm not even that tall at 6'4 and it's near intolerable to ride in one for more than 5 minutes.
Note: In Europe if you are riding in a car for more than 5 minutes that's unusual, everything is very compact over there because their cities were built up before the automobile. Probably for the same reason they also don't have the same "road trip" mentality we do. I have a friend from England who was shocked that we drove 40 minutes to visit friends, noting that she drove 40 minutes about 5 times a year. They are much more insular than Americans are.
Be skeptical - this is a Michael Bay film.
True, but don't forget the golden rule of Michael Bay movie-making. If it starts with "The" it will be good. The Rock, The Island good movies. Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys II bad movies. Since this movie is "The Transformers" I have high hopes!
Can we please stop putting the names of New York attorney generals in the articles. This guy (I won't say his name, don't want to help his google ranking) just wants to follow the Guiliani/Spitzer tactic of suing big name companies and "standing up for the little guy" even when it's not actually prudent (I'm not judging this case one way or another).
Yep, food without trans-fats taste just as good as those with them. And Coke tasted just the same after they replaced cane sugar with high-fructose corn syrup. Just the same.
"You're wrong about The Wall. That album is 81:12 long, and an audio CD can only hold (at an extreme maximum) 80 minutes."
Yeah but if you cut out all the worthless crap it'll easily fit;)
I used to read CGW but it just seemed to go downhill a little bit, I couldn't really put my finger on it but I let my subscription lapse and haven't missed it terribly.
I have to admit I have no grasp on how big or small this laptop is because this headline was apparently written in Europe.
-Not nerdy enough to know both metric and english.
Am I the only one here who remembers a Fantastic Four series from about 10 years ago? Ran back to back with Iron Man usually? In my market it was on Sunday mornings at 6AM (great time slot). I just looked through this whole thread and I didn't see one mention of this cartoon, now I'm wondering if I'm the only one who remembers it.
On the other hand, the overtime rules were never really meant to apply to people like programmers, so it's really just codifying that. Overtime was put in place to compenstate manual labourers, and low wage employees.
They said there was a very small chance that it's companion rock could be behind or in front of it, what kind of percantage are we talking about? You have to figure that the "Sedna moon" would spend at least 20% of it's time in front of or behind the planet (relative to Hubble). Imagine trying to see the moon from a telescope on Sedna, it wouldn't always be on either side, sometimes the Earth would hide it. Maybe they just need to take another photo when Hubble has another oppurtunity.
Not as far as the law is concerned... maybe slightly different if for a jury. But you are no less liable if "everybody is doing it" and no more liable if there are valid alternatives.
Best Buy doesn't carry them anymore but you can pick one up at your local Circuit City.

That was from one of the season's of The Wire.
Yeah I've been interested in checking that one out!

Please remove your blue suede shoes.
The 4 hour stop at security would be really hilarious...!

60 percent of the time, it works everytime.

I am mute, here's my story:
With TabMixPlus not working (yet) I'm really missing a create tab button before my first tab.
I used to read CGW but it just seemed to go downhill a little bit, I couldn't really put my finger on it but I let my subscription lapse and haven't missed it terribly.
