A full 70% of my $15,000 sales monthly on eBay, come from paypal payments.
Seems to me that paypal is a profit center enabling eBay to pick up near 3% more on money on sales, not a liability.
If I thought they were really worth much, I would buy one, pay via paypal.com
get my new hot address
then tell paypal that the auction was fake, bad, did not work.
and get my money back..

As long as employees are not in slave labor, outsourcing is essential for many successful American companies.
If I couldn't buy great quality items from China and resell them, I would have starved to death a long time ago.
