I've said this 100 times already. Meteos is super-awesome and SHOULD be a killer app!
I'm totally addicted to it now and I do not understand why Lumines is so much more well known? Maybe because Lumines was the only good game available during the PSP's launch.
I own Mario DS, Warioware, Yoshi Touch & Go, and Meteos, and Meteos is by FAR the best game out there. It's totally amazing. I even got my girlfriend into Meteos, I borrowed my brother's DS and the two of us played single cartridge multiplayer for an hour! That's probably the longest she's ever played a videogame for.
I'd like to check out the new Kirby game too, I heard it's sweet also.
Think of all your favourite classic games. How many were made great due to R&D?
R&D is good for making games more 'techincally' advanced (better graphics and sound). To make a game 'good' requires a certain talent similar to the talent of a good film director or music composer.
A good game can be technically advanced or not, although being technically advanced is always pleasing to the senses.
Sometimes, a certain level of technical advancement is required, as a pre-requisite, for the 'good game' to be made at all. Tetris required 2D-bitmaps, Super Mario Brothers required scrolling backgrounds, Mario 64 required 3d rendering, Everquest required internet connectivity. You get the point.
Back to your original point, maybe more realistic clothes will ALLOW for the creation of some kind of revolutionary clothing design game that'll get all sorts of new people into gaming?
Using an analogy in an argument or explanation is like sneezing in the other person's face! Only slightly different in obvious ways. You get my point...
It doesn't matter what CPU is used for compiling. It happens when the code is executed. The code looks at what CPU it is running on, if it's an Intel, it runs the good code, if it's an AMD, it runs the bad code. At least that's what AMD is claiming.
I was at an EB Games yesterday in a suburban mall in Canada's captital city. A family (father, mother, with a son and a daughter) walks in and asks for a PSP. The salesman asks the right question by saying "Who are you buying this for?" The father says "My son" (who looks about 6 years old). The salesman then spent about 10 minutes explaining to the father how the PSP would be a terrible purchase since the machine is delicate, prone to defects (dead-pixels etc.), doesn't have many games kids will enjoy, and doesn't have hardly any new games coming out.
It would have been easier and more profitable for that EB employee to just sell the $300 system but instead looked out for the interest of his customer.
At the same time I noticed that Meteos for the DS was sold out at the store. In my opinion, the PSP has already 'lost'.
(I have a DS, and Meteos is the best puzzle game since Tetris)
It's a matter of opinion. System Shock 2 was very immersive and amazing in general, but you still had to pause the game to read journal entries and audio logs (like how Doom 3 did it). Half-Life 2 explained story and characters through NPCs though, which is a lot more difficult technically. Which is more effective, I don't know. With the logs you can skip them if you want, but reading is HARD!
The creator of DoTT, Full Throttle and the like (I forget his name) just released the platformer Psychonauts. And I can personally vouch for the new game's hilarity. It's totally twisted and funny, if you liked those old lucasarts games, I highly recommend this one.
Ebay offers half.com as their answer to the amazon marketplace. I sometimes find cheaper prices there than at amazon's marketplace. But, unfortunately, they don't allow Canadian sellers, even they allow us to buy (with extra costs, but often worth it).

I just bought 2 dvds (different titles) on ebay, from two different sellers and was screwed by one, and disappointed by the other.
This was the first time I bought DVDs on ebay, every other purchase I've ever done went smoothly.
The 1st DVD was a bootleg. When I confronted the seller he just said that it wasn't a bootleg, but an import with a different cover. This was bull for many reasons. The first is that I ordered the DTS version, and the dvd was labeled as that, but the movie itself was Dolb Digital. Next, the dvd was only single layer (it says on the label DVD-9)! I had to return the movie to the seller at my expense, then he gave me negative feedback since I gave him negative feedback.
CAUTION: Be wary of sellers that say their DVDs are imported and may have different covers, this means they are very convincing bootlegs!
With my other purchase, the guy shipped me the DVD that I asked for, but without its' DVD case! He never mentioned this, after I told him about this, he said that throws out the cases that his DVDs come in. What an asshat! Plus, he didn't take paypal, so I had to send a money order (yuck), I should have noticed that before I bid though.
Eskimoes are supposed to be referred to as Inuit. I don't think Eskimo is too insulting (last time I looked it up, that's the conclusion I reached), but they're referred to as Inuit here in Canada by most people. As times change, so does language and terminology. Nobody uses the term Negroe anymore.
Inuit has a nice ring too, it's not cumbersome like the 'African-American' conjunction is.
There's nothing keeping Microsoft from buying off the anti-virus market. There is no open-source anti-virus solution right now (other than switching to Linux).
If Microsoft releases a free anti-virus scanner, you can say goodbye to other anti-viral companies, who not only make Linux products, but may not be able to exist without their Windows revenue stream.
Maybe there's room for strictly Linux based commercial anti-virus software.
I believe them since the adware and spyware got out of control after they sold Kazaa. In the beginning, Kazaa was great (that's why it got so popular).
You can blame them for selling their popular software to such an unscrupulous company, but everyone makes mistakes.
Skype is a great product, and they make money from long distance calls, and not from ads. With Kazaa, how were they supposed to make money without ads? That was the problem!

No, Lumines is not a killer app for the DS, since it's only available on the PSP.
On the other hand, Meteos (from the maker of Lumines!) IS a killer app (game) for the DS. Play it for 5 minutes, and you will hopefully agree.
It's special since it's gameplay cannot be done on any other system due to its' use of the touch screen (except maybe on a pocket PC?)

Inuit != Intuit
Nope, it's true!
A free download!
Hasn't anyone seen Team America? Especially the Unrated DVD version? Don't they sell it at Wal-mart?
If movies can be released on DVD without such inspection, why can't a computer game?
I'll answer my own question. It's because 'games' are for 'kids', supposedly. Also, people fear and hate what they do not understand.
It doesn't matter what CPU is used for compiling. It happens when the code is executed. The code looks at what CPU it is running on, if it's an Intel, it runs the good code, if it's an AMD, it runs the bad code. At least that's what AMD is claiming.
This doesn't just affect CRT owners. I just bought a low end 27' LCD. It only has component and VGA inputs for HDTV.
That's why there's a free Maya educational version
The XBMC guys just recently (past couple months) added the incredible Milkdrop viz.
It's one of the best vizes ever! If you don't like it, you can choose from 10 others.
You say Lumines, I say METEOS
And this game cannot be made for any other gaming system, since it is necessary to use the stylus with it. It's worth the price of the system IMHO.
I did another post to this thread in support of the DS, but...
Isn't Rogue Agent (the game you LOVE so much) a port of a console game?
And what is Mario 64 DS? Brand new? It was the flagship launch game, and is even included with the Blue DS (I think)
Since we're using anecdotes I'll give you mine.

And they probably never will since it could be used to block Gooooogle ads

I'm pretty sure that the original wine plays Windows' solitaire.
