    Nothing.

    Net neutrality isn't about that. It's about Comcast slowing down Skype VOIP packets in favor of Comcast VOIP packets or say slowing down Netflix packets in favor of Comcast on demand service.

    If you want to give VOIP packets a higher priority than bittorent fine, but you can't just give do it just for your VOIP you have to do it for all VOIP traffic.

    Or more likely drivers are simply mistaking the brake pedal for the gas pedal as they did back in the 80's. Media hype + mass delusion = $millions spent while investigators chase down imaginary gremlins just so a few drivers don't have to take responsibility for their own mistakes.

    As in usually but not always.

    Just because most RAND agreements are written in such a way does not mean that the GSM RAND was written that way.

    Till we actually see the terms no one really knows.

    Nice editing to bad you missed a key part.

    " The normal case is that when joining the standardization body , companies agree that if they receive any patents on technologies which become essential to the standard then they agree to allow other groups attempting to implement the standard to use those patents and they agree that the charges for those patents shall be reasonable. RAND licenses allow a competitive market to develop between multiple companies making products which implement a standard."

    You must be a part of the standardization body to get the full benefits.

    I think the change probably has more to do with the integration into the windows 7 phone enviroment and all the various social networking aspects of it.

    Yeah its not good for you and the food is really terrible, and yet McDonald's continues to grow even during this recession.

    His point stands.   The masses are risk adverse, they'll gladly trade what might be better for what they already know even if its bad for them.

    Its a great scam. Manufactures can set prices to stupidly high levels because the service providers will mass purchase them at those levels to keep the retail cost high and convince consumers to buy into "subsidized" phones.

    Service providers make out by getting people locked into long term contracts, manufacturers make out by charging higher than what the market would actually bear out.

    And consumers lose on both ends higher prices and locked in service contracts.

    If they weren't allowed to bundle like this "retail" prices would drop in a heartbeat.

    What "scam" ? I'm not aware of any countries where the customer is liable for fraudulent transactions unless they've been grossly negligent (and being grossly negligent with your "checks" won't produce any different result).

    Some banks offer the chip and no pin for transactions with a debit card. If someone takes that card they can use it anywhere and drain you account completely and you have no recourse whatsoever.

    So because a company can't figure out how to market its products consumers can't even know when or if they are buying these products?

    And who cares if their sales get cut in half? Sounds like a boon to small/organic farms.

    I doubt most windows users have even 100gb of data let alone 650gb.
